The unit is not continuously spooling string. I have to stop periodically man take it appart and advance the string. I am using factor wound string, so that is not the problem

My biggest annoyance with B&D weed trimmers is that they don't last long, especially with wear parts. The trimmers are cheap, but who wants to replace them every other year.This time, I decided to try to find and replace those wear parts. Hard to do at my local hardware and big box stores. Amazon, however, did a great Job of matching my model number with the right parts, for a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit.The parts are high quality and fit perfectly. Very easy to install.

I read the reviews. Someone said that this was not as good as the replacement spool that Home Depot sells. So I bought this and a replacement spool from Home Depot. They are exactly the same thickness. It looks like they are made in the same factory in China. Definately easier than winding them your self. If you do wind yourself, do about three and a half times around. Seems like if you try to put more winds on there, then things get tangled up.If you want to wind yourself, home depot sells some yellow string that is thicker, lasts longer and cuts better. Cheaper than new string but you still have to wind it.Eventually, you will need a new orange base. This product comes with that. I have been using the new base for a couple of months with no problems.

The replacement head is ok, it doesn't entirely fit all that well like the OEM product. The blades are brittle and looking at them funny causes them to break about as fast. Otherwise, the biggest issue I have is the fact that the mounting screws for the blades are in a direct wear path of the edge of rotation. makes constantly replacing the blades a pain when they start to wear down along with the orange plastic from the head.The head does fit some home depot brand blades that last a bit longer and are cheaper, and I also 3d printed some blades at the cost of pennies a blade that last just as long as the blades in the pack.In the end, I switched back to OEM after a stray rock caught a blade, bounced off the guard and shattered the head irreparably. largely, got my use out of it ... but it ultimately cost me twice what a replacement spool was that I needed for it and decided to try something different. Also lasted a relatively short time in that usage time in comparison as well.3 stars cause it was a fun experiment. Will not buy again.

The Caps were both in a small cardboard box and then placed in an Amazon plastic bag for shipping.The cardboard box protected the Caps from any possibility of transit damage and so arrived in perfect condition. The Caps were as described and were an exact fit , I would purchase these again if required.

Works just fine. I'll be careful not to wear them out as fast but at least I know I can get these for my B&D weed whacker here. tyvm!
