Since I’ve bought it, I have not taken it off. Subtle enough that it isn’t overly noticeable but still gets you that desire bloom/mist feel! Images speak for themselves!

The effects of this filter in 1/8 are subtle but it helps you get soft images with lower contrast and slightly glowing lights. I use this with an vintage lens that is naturally hazy and soft on a film rangefinder. Together they give a very painterly character to your photos. It works reliably for me, even at 1/8 strength it is noticeable in most conditions and I haven’t seen any issues with flairs. Try it!

Bought this for use on my Fuji XE-1 and have been very pleased with the results. The effect is quite subtle, but when shooting side by side tests with no filter, the Tiffen filter gives an nice softening effect to skin tones in particular. You don't get a lot of unwanted artifacts, even when shooting into the light which makes this filter good for flare control as well. Overall a really handy, but specialized filter that would be great if you do a lot of portraiture either in the studio or on location.By the way, the sample shots for this filter on Tiffen's web site really don't do this justice.

In my home studio, there isn’t much room, so my key light is close to my face. Even when setting the proper exposure, there is a harsh shine on my face that is noticeable especially at 4K.I saw this Blackmist filter on Youtube and decided to buy the middle version to help with that issue.Surprisingly, it works! Without losing sharpness, the highlights in my video are much smoother.This product is a bit expensive for what it does, but if you really need it for the perfect shot, it’s worth it.

Many would argue that this is unecessary and that it can be done with post and to some extent, I get it? But let's be real, there is and always will be a je-ne-sais-quoi that comes from capturing it as it was, rather than as transformed.Those filters do the perfect job at making a digital (sometimes too much with modern hardware) photo/video have just the right amount of diffusion to give it that softer, yet natural look that we all want to capture. I love it, it's my second one and I intend to buy more in the future!

Ce filtre 49mm est tout bonnement incroyable.Après plusieurs test sur des 1/2 puis 1/4, j’ai finalement opté pour sa version 1/8 qui répond complètement à mes exigences de rendu, des lumières légèrement plus prononcé / avec ce halo et un aspect des photos un poil plus laiteux.La qualité est au rendez-vous, l’envoi est fait dans une coque plastique avec mousse pour éviter toute casse durant le transport.Le pas de vis se fait naturellement et le serrage tiens bien à l’appareil.

Is it worth it? who actually knows it depends on your budget. But your shot is only as a good as the cheapest piece of equipment on your glass, so if your after the optimal shots you have to go with the optimal equipment. or maybe thats just a marketing spiel. But it got me to upgrade from my K&F mist filter, and ive not looked back or put that one back on since. Very happy with the image i get.black mist - Yes the cinematic look everybdoy trying to create from films to commercials. 1/8 Is usually the standard as its more universal and can be used everyday for shooting opposed to 1/2 and 1/4 which are more strong in appearance and as such much more selective with shots to not overpower the scene with glow/halation. so yes 1/8 is good.cast - not had any shadows / x related tints to my knowledge on this, everything is looking as it should and ive not had any weird coloured tints eitheir. I didnt notice them much on my k&F so wouldnt expect it here eitheir.Overall - very happy with this purchase is it worth the money over cheaper? thats down to your wallet but if you want the best invest in the best. I'm a bit dissapointed they didnt provide no wipes or a filter box or anything with the filter. like K&F which provided a case and wipes . But i guess when you sit at the top you get what you pay for and nothing else.
