Unless you want to risk spilling wax on your work area, definitely use the recommended fill volume WITH THE LID: 8oz are actually 6oz, etc.That being said: these are great! They look amazing, they're super lightweight, and I haven't had a single defective tin yet! I use woodwicks that are 1/2in thick and it works really well! The wax melts all the way to the edges, and there are no overheating issues.

Wanted to love these the moment I saw them and was not disappointed. Good seamless tin that looks lux and the "tightness" in the lids that others complain about is just good build quality in my opinion. I ordered several cases of these for our Xmas rush (90% of candles are sold in Q4 in the US), and it became a BEST SELLER on Etsy, a very rare achievement. 3 of 192 tin bodies and lids arrived slightly dented and the customer service took care of it within 24 hrs despite the order being several months old. Very satisfied!Temperature control is also very good. Glass jars at this size can get quite hot but these are just the right size so you get a good wax pool but can still touch the sides. Those who complain about these burning "too hot" are using a wick that is too big.Each tin holds approximately 6 oz of wax and works best with a CD 18 wick. I like a 1" x 5" label from Avery.

These came well packaged with not one dented or scratched! This is the first time ordering from this company and will order again! Lids fit snug, and all paint is equal. Great quality!

I love the way they look classy even though they are matte. I love the way the candle wax clings to the side of the tins smoothly. My other tins didn’t have that smooth look. The height is perfect for a label. I like that I can put a larger label on these tins. I would’ve given it a 5 star but I haven’t burned the candles yet. So I don’t know if it is an even burn.

I've dropped my original 5-star review down to one, because the latest sets of tins I received are horrible quality. True Candle is using new packaging (which doesn't protect the tins) and every container in two cases is poorly finished. THESE ARE INFERIOR QUALITY TINS compared to their old product (and competitor tins). This is significant: originally all tins were consistently flawless with perfect matte finish (and I bought MANY boxes), but True Candle is using new packaging in which tins are no longer individually wrapped. Every tin I received (4 dozen) was scratched or otherwise blemished. Several had incomplete matte coating on the inside and every tin showed hideous marks on the outside. The poor/inconsistent paint coating is amateurish, and I'm very disappointed. This is enough to turn me off all True Candle products going forward. Sigh.ORIGINAL REVIEW: These are GREAT tins: sturdy and well-made. The edgeless lid design is fantastic. Without doubt my favorite tins ever!

These are lovely tins - just don't ever put them in the dishwasher!They are matt and lovely, the black paint or whatever is coating it is almost smudge-proof and the lids fit perfectly without any looseness to them. The box they come in is perfect to re-storage after turning them into candles, and I love the small, compact size where 24 can fit into 1 box whereas most of the glass candle jars I get can fit 12 at most and the boxes get heavy faster.I will be buying again!

Just as advertised. The lids are snug, and I've been ordering these for a while now and never had any issues with these tins.
