Why would a paddler need a tip protector?
When you are waiting to board your dragon boat in the marshaling area during a competition or practice, you are not able to bring your paddle bag. During this waiting time, you are often waiting on an asphalt or rock surface. During this waiting period, the last thing you want to do is place the bottom of your paddle on the ground and lean on it, since it could damage the tip of your paddle. However, if you have a Dragon Guard tip protector, you can use your paddle to lean on and not worry about damaging your expensive carbon fiber paddle. Once you enter the boat, you simply take the tip-off and place it in your pocket or at your feet in the boat.
The Dragon Guard also provides extra protection to the tip of your paddle when it is in the trunk of your car or at home in your garage.
How to place the tip protector on your paddle?
The tip protector is made of silicone. To apply it to your paddle, simply stretch it out and place it over the end portion of the blade. Once you release the pressure, the tip will be secured on your paddle.

I bought two, first split after a few weeks. Swapped the second one off my spare paddle, and it too has split.These aren't expensive but should still last longer than a few months.

Does its job, but leaving it on my blade after a while will leave a very subtle but nevertheless noticeable residue (non-sticky) on the surface it comes into contact with.
