I put this with my tiny drum set in my tiny jam room, and I love it. It sounds fantastic. For me, This is one of those "palette" cleanser style instruments that sounds great between songs, or as a indicator to say, "lets go to the next concept."When i first set it up, it fell over and one of the strings that holds one the chimes broke, and I havent put it back on yet. But all it will take is a little bit of string. In the meantime, it's hardly noticeable that one note is missing (lowest note) All that said, yes it fell over - but that was my fault. The feet of the stand were not fully expanded when it fell. The stand is actually quite sturdy and professional. I. Love. It.

First off, the top half of the stand was missing. Secondly, and more important, these sound terrible. I didn't expect the same quality as my much more expensive set of chimes. However I would not call these musical at all. They are not tuned beyond the rough cut, and as a result the tones and overtones are better suited for a horror movie soundtrack than any musical performance. I will be returning them....

It doesn't come with instructions, but this is super easy to put together. Especially if you've ever had a music stand. I was a little nervous about it, because of the reviews saying the sound was terrible. But I just finished putting it together and the sound is lovely. It's really beautiful, and it's in tune. I'm really happy with it.

The first thing to understand about this, is that this is NOT a "tuned" instrument. None of the bars is tuned to any specific note or frequency, thus some might be considered "sharp" and some might be considered "flat". So, you can't single out "e flat", for instance, and play it. There are chines with large, tuned note tubes or bars, but this isn't what this is.This is a chime to produce a kind of "dreamy", sort of "magical" musical effect. Strum it one way, and the sound goes from low to high, and the other way it does the opposite. It can produce the same kind of musical effect as a harp. If someone in a play was playing a pixie, and was sprinkling pixie dust, this is the instrument you would play to give the action a musical tie-in.Knowing what it is, and what it's used for, it's not that bad of an instrument, really. Mine arrived in tact, completely wrapped in cellophane, with nothing missing or damaged. The top bar that the chimes are all attached to is drilled for the center of the bar, unfortunately, and not the center of gravity. It's not a huge issue, but you have to make sure the wing nut securing it to the stand is pretty tight, or it might start to rotate from gravity. I might re-drill the mounting hold 3/4"-1" to the lower side to put the balance on the COG. It's a small thing, but worth mentioning. The stand they give you is VERY high quality. A very nice stand, indeed, they didn't cheap out here. The gooseneck isn't quite as nice, having some "rough spots" in the chrome, but it's still built ok. I'd like to see the gooseneck a little longer, personally. But it's not too awfully short. The sound is, indeed, dreamy and almost magical. As stated, it's not a "tuned" instrument, so if "musical accuracy per note" is what you're after, you're in the wrong place looking at the wrong instrument. But for a musical wind chime, it's actually quite decent sounding, and I would have no problem putting this into a concert or play where a wind chime sound is called for. Now, there are some very high quality wind chime instruments on Amazon for WAY more money. More than DOUBLE the cost of this. But in all honesty, this will get you very, very close to the sound of a wind chime instrument costing a lot more than this. What I'm saying here, basically, is that there is a lot of "bang for the buck" here. If the budget is tight, and a wind chime instrument is needed, by golly this will get you there, and doesn't sound too bad in the process. Not everyone can swing $150 for a wind chime instrument, and that's ok. But sometimes for whatever you're doing, you need that sound that only this instrument can make. You really aren't going to go wrong here for half the cost of a top shelf instrument. It's made well (at least mine was), sounds decent, and has a very high quality stand. I give it a 4 star rating, and think it's a solid value.

These chimes have a crisp clear sound to them. They came with the polishing cloth and I enjoyed the nice finish on it. Take the time to learn each note for the times it will allow you to individually play I enjoy practicing. It is a very expensive and delicate instrument. Be careful so it doesn't tip over. It is very adjustable so you can sit while playing

The chimes are bigger than I expected and make for the perfect addition to your percussion setup.Everything came mostly assembled, I just had to put the chimes on the stand and it was ready to go! I appreciate that the stand's legs are really sturdy and better than I would have expected. I also like that the chimes have a little slot on the support that holds a mallet when you're not using it.Excellent instrument. Would definitely recommend if you need more chimes in your life!

This is such a great quality, and the sound is just beautiful! Really happy with it! Put it alongside a drum set for the six-year-old, and he couldn’t be happier! Really highly recommend!
