*if you are serious about LEARNING hand percussion get a deep carved wood body. This is what it is ... a PC of painted PVC piping with a synthetic feel smell and sound . If you want a drum u can throw around a campsite or drop from a 2 story 3indow this is ur window . Lol. It's a Toca.

I bought this pvc shell djembe to have a really light drum to carry around at faire. I don't want to drag a heavy wood djembe around all day.When I unpackaged the drum it had a spot in the center of the head where either the tyvek wasn't fully applied to the mylar or it was scratched off. I have contacted the seller Capital Music Gear and I have also contacted Toca, both about a week ago, and they have both completely ignored me. I can put a goat skin on this drum but I shouldn't have to and the absolute complete lack of anything resembling customer service is not what I would have expected. Very disappointing. Edit: now that I'm breaking down the drum to put goat skin on it I realize that whoever is tying up these djembes doesn't have a clue about what they're doing. They run all the verticals and then they tie a separate piece of rope for the diamonds and the rope is so tight that it is almost impossible to untie. Really shabby operation.
