I got this truck for my little boy as he earned a reward and wanted a "grabber truck", crane truck. I read some reviews and was worried based on some, but after opening the package and fiddling with it, I have found no issues. The truck is sturdy, big, the locking mechanism is a bit hard to lock, but about ten pounds of pressure into the locking mechanism does the trick. Most adults can lock this no issue, without having to modify it, if you modify it, the mechanism will fail. Ours works great, holds, and everything operates as it should. My only thing to change would be to add a metal bucket and metal crank. I understand some parts have to be plastic, but a few additions could be made. I almost got the classic one for twelve dollars more, but realized that the newer cheaper model has less sharp parts, a big plus with a special needs child. My boy loves the truck so much, it has gone to bed with him, outside, cleaned, in the bath, outside again, and cleaned all over. Works great, no complaints!

My 4yo plays with this EVERY DAY. Solid construction. Good for rough play. Risk of boom pinching fingers- but, hey. Its a classic. I DID have to modify notches for holding boom in place as the plastic was not thoroughly removed to allow proper engagement. Easy fix. Great toy. Will buy others from this series.

Although this Tonka Truck is sadly made overseas it has lived up to the Tonka Tough name. I am very pleased with it and most importantly my son loves it. Trust me, he's putting it through it's paces as he has made the crane eat wall many times while pushing it around the room and it's holding up nicely.

This made my Son's birthday. He loves it, but we keep having to retie the "scoop" that the crane uses. I wish they'd had a more robust attachment method, we had to create our own. I'd say this is great for kids >3 years old, because raising/lowering the crane can be a little hard for kids to grasp since you need to move it to the right, and then forward and back for it to lock/unlock in place.

We love these for our son. Anything plastic is easily destructible and the only way to ensure that my 2 1/2 year old doesn't just tear a toy up in 20 minutes is to get one with solid construction. These Tonka trucks can't be beat! His grandma bought him a dump truck for his first Christmas and he has imagined up all kinds of uses for it! It's one of the only toys he has that has withstood his rough play. So my husband and I are getting more of these. They are built to last and our son finds hours of play with them:)

All in all it was a Tonka and the name still means quality....however, it has changed somewhat from the Tonka of old by not being entirely metal. Don't know if will hold up as well since there is some plastic but, it is still a great toy!

My three year old is obsessed with construction vehicles and this was a birthday wish. He loved it, its big and sturdy and a lot of fun. The body is make out of metal. It came shrink wrapped in its original box and double packed into a larger box, we just wrapped the big box up.

Awesome and durable crane. My 4 year old loves it and plays with it inside and outside daily. The crane bucket does come untied kind of frequently but it's easy to put back on. The handle to raise and lower the boom gets stuck sometimes but easy to whack it back into place.
