I put this on an old trusty Ugly stick #8 fly pole. Loaded with proper lines, I practiced casting to see how it all balanced out. the drag had some negative reviews but I found it solid and easy to adjust. It could be set stronger than I would want on any fish. I would get another one of these if I needed one. Definite buy....... Good value. You could spend more but not improve on utlity.Fly fisherman for 55 years.

I bought this Toro series reel to go with my Maxcatch 4 in 1 Farglory Fly Fishing Rod 4wt. Awesome Nymph Fly Rod by the way. Topped it off with the Maxcatch Avid Fly Line 4wt. Most of the top notch machined reels are double this price. The Maxcatch Toro Series are a superbly machined reel that are finished better than the higher priced reels. The drag adjustment is precise and sensitive, capable of protecting the lightest tippets even when battling large fish.This is a great fly reel for the money, and it performed beyond expectations. Being an avid fly fisherman for 40 years plus and owning numerous brands of rods and reels. I would put this reel right up against the best out there. Maxcatch fly fishing products are very well made and priced right for everyone... Tight Lines everyone !!!

What a great reel at an amazing price. This thing is beautiful. The drag works well enough for what I use it for. The cassette held 100yds of backing and fly line no problem. It is extremely light but just right to perfectly balance my 10' 4wt. I'm using a 5/6 model, with 5wt line. I'll put this reel up against any of my big brand names. Four stars because nothing built by humans is perfect!

This fly reel feels and looks as though it could cost multiples of its retail price. Very smooth to wind, drag feels solid. Aesthetically quite pleasing. I have Abel, Tibor, Hardy, Ross etc and was looking for a reel with equal quality at a lower price. Wow, did I find it. Very pleased.

I have some very expensive reels and I must say this is a great reel for the money. It is a good looking reel and the drag works ok and I can strip off the line just fine. Buy this reel and put the money you save into a better rod.

Had a chance to try out my Toro 5 wt reel today it performed great paired with avid 5 wt line on a Redington trout classic rod I had already it was a nice fit I can't wait till I get a chance to hit the trout stream with it . The reel is very smooth and the drag works well .

I tested this real on the Hiawassee River in the North Georgia mountains last weekend. I was concerned when some reviews stated that the drag would loosen up on it’s own and backlash. This river is small private water with true trophy trout lurking about. The 1st fish was a beefy 16†football. The rod/reel tamed the fish immediately. By mid-day I had landed 2 24†plus fish weighing in at 4 to 5 pounds. The drag was flawless. This is a quality real. No drag issues. Do not hesitate to purchase this product.
