I had a baby tree and the birds kept pecking the soil around it. This was the perfect solution. The hole in the mat when installed isn't huge, so it's definitely not for a big tree. For my baby, it's perfect. Super easy to get around the tree. No more holes from the birds. It's sitting in Arizona heat and sun and so far, so good. We don't have grass, just gravel, but I would imagine that this would be great for avoiding a lawn mower and trimmer.

While it is easy to tell the difference between mulch and this surround I am still happy with the product. If your primary concern is creating a mulch-like appearance, this may not be the right product for you.I used this ring to put a barrier between the grass and the tree to make mowing around them easier and eliminate grass growing next to the trunk. Hitting the bark with a strimmer can damage the tree and I wanted to avoid that. This did exactly what I intended and creates a neat appearance around the tree.I used garden spikes to secure the ring to the ground so it does not lift when I mow around it.I plan on adding more of these to the yard around other trees to tidy them up.

This was perfect to put down around a new tree in our yard. It makes mowing easier and keeps weeds from growing. We cut a bit more out of the middle as the tree grows.

The hole was not large enough to go around tree, so it cannot lay flat. Otherwise...heavy, great material. Thick too :)

I purchased this to put under my bird feeder to catch all the sunflower seeds and prevent the squirrels from digging up the ground around it. I can pick the mat up, shake off the seeds and replace. I also like the large size of it.

ordered because our local hardware store didn't carry this product in single quantity + we wanted a synthetic (non-degradable type). it's about 1/2" thick, the center hole is about 6". it's bi-colored and very well manufactured. came rolled in a box so we laid it flat overnight under bricks & it was great by the morning. if we had another tree, I'd definitely buy another!

These are a must have around young trees with grass growing right up to the trunks. About 95% effective. A few runs of Caterpillar grass will still get through. And they work best slightly dug into the ground. The top should be just flush with the soil. You can mow over them if done right. Boy are they expensive though...

Great sturdy thick mat. Looks like you have bark mulch around the tree. Keeps the weeds away.It’s a bit pricey especially if you need more that one.

We purchased these to trim 2 new trees. They are exactly what we hoped and after a couple of days they sit flat around the base of the tree and blend in with the mulch around the tree
