This ESC is solid, and just works, which is what I want. The setup sounds more convoluted than it really is. Basically holding down a button for a few seconds until a light changes color. The manual is well enough written that you should be able to figure it out. It does have a Traxxas plug for the battery side (TRX). If your battery has a different connector, either chop this one off and put something else on, or fix the leads from your battery. The motor side has female banana connectors, so you will need male ones on the leads for the motor (or chop off and solder directly to the motor wires). The only real trick is that you will need to place this ESC somewhere where you can get to it without taking everything apart, because the button serves as your "power" button. It has mounting holes on the side for screw mounting, but I sliced those off with a dremel cutting wheel because they were in the way. It also comes with a two sided sticky foam pad to mount it by sticking it down if you prefer.

I'm no pro, so my standards may not be as high as others. This esc is simple to use, and seems powerful and efficient. I like the Traxxas battery connectors - high current, durable, relatively easy to solder. The fact that it's waterproof is fantastic - I can run it in the 'dirt', which more often than not is mud where I live. The esc itself is big - I've had to struggle to fit it into a few models. On my old Tamiya Hornet, it kept spontaneously shutting off for reasons I could never quite figure out. It would often shut off right after a collision, which is very annoying. In retrospect, it might have the crummy Tamiya battery adapter I was using, or I might have accidentally had the ESC set to LiPO batteries when I was using NiMh. So with the exception of that one flaw, which I suspect was my fault, this a great controller.

Had a bit of scare at first , after installing it . It wouldn't bind or anything ? After sending e mail about it . I figured I would give it one last chance ? And to my amazement I didn't have it plugged into receiver box. Which was why it didn't work !Works great now and my sons truck is off my work bench , running again !

I was given an old Traxxas 4-Tec a while back and the first thing I did was upgrade the MSC to this 3018R ESC. Plugged right in and works great. No overheating issues with the old brushless 20T Stinger can and 5000mAh NiMH's. Car runs pretty good for an old 'shelf queen'. I've gotten 30 mph on the gun. This may turn into a drift car project, but for now it is the only upgrade I made to the 4-Tec. Thanks.SPO

My kids and I set out on a beautiful fall Saturday to play with our RC trucks and I immediately put a damper on things but plugging in the battery leads to the battery backwards and literally smoked my son's ESC. It was a Saturday afternoon and we don't have a hobby shop close. I hopped on Amazon and found the exact Traxxas replacement at a competitive price and less than 24 hours later it was at our front door. I changed the plug and quickly put the new one in and we were back in action! Good price and super fast shipping!

Excellent ESC for brushed motors - running a titan 550 12t on this using a 2s lipo - has built-in (must provision) low voltage cut off to protect your lipos - also supports nimh - just cut the proprietary traxxas connector off and install / solder in a new connector of your choice - keep in mind it should support 12awg wire wellJust watch out for odd shipping delays from amazon on this - they say 2 day but 3days later, after it was slated for delivery, it still hadn't shipped - arrived like 3days later

I normally don't bother writing reviews because I firmly believe that all products should perform as they advertise.However! I bought this to replace the HPI SC-15WP esc. Installation was a breeze. Instructions were very clear.My RC car works now as it should!I just hope this esc lasts me another 2-3+ years!
