Worked great for free diving for lobsters in San Diego! Easy to one hand open and stuff lobsters into. A zippered bottom would be great for removing lobsters, otherwise I love this bag! I also take it when not lobster diving because Its great for collecting shells and holding small gear I might need.

The first one I bought from Sports Chalet. It performed great for about a year until the handle broke. The handle is made out of stainless steel (as it should be) and is a very thick gauge however the weld broke where the larger (stationary) portion of the handle connects to the rounded frame. I was able to JB Weld it and it has survived intact since but that still leaves me somewhat dissatisfied with the quality. A steel weld like this should not just break. I bought this new one from Amazon to serve as my new primary catch bag while keeping the repaired (original) one as a backup. I felt that I should include my experience with the first one, even though it wasn't purchased from Amazon, because it is identical (make/model/manufacturer) as the second one. The second one remains functional although I only used it twice so far in Oct. 2012.Note: There is a small black, plastic connector attached to the outside of the bag near the top (below where the steel handle connects to the frame). I believe this plastic hook to be for attaching the bag to a SCUBA/belt lanyard. The hook is plastic and I simply didn't trust the plastic so I had been hooking my lanyard to the steel handle instead. Is it my fault that the handle broke? Well... I guess I didn't expect the steel weld to give up so easily. That being said, when entering (and more importantly, exiting) the water from shore there is a tremendous amount of strain on the bag from the surf, especially if it is full of obese lobsters. Obviously I like this bag as I purchased a second identical one which I continue to use. I recommend this bag. Try to catch it on sale if you can. My first one I bought in a kit (bag, lobster/crab gauge, light sticks, California Spiny Lobster fishing guide) for $25 from Sports Chalet in 2010. Naturally I prefer Amazon as the prices are usually competitively low and 2-day shipping is usually free with my Prime membership.

I bought this bag and my buddy bought this bag also for a scuba diving trip Dad we just went on. We were hunting lobsters. When it worked, it worked well. The problem was it kept on turning inside out on us under the water. And when it was inside out and we had a squirming Lobster in our hand it was very difficult to try to get the lobster into the bag. Kind of a pain when you're 30' underwater. But it was useable. Just don't know that I would purchase it again. I would have thought it was a glitch with my bag. But it happened to my dive buddy as well. So there's some sort of flaw with this thing. I still can't figure out how it turned inside out while diving. Twice.

blown away, I was very happy when I opened this package. the one handed operation is extremely intuitive and makes life easy in the water when trying to stuff a lobster into your bag, you dont want to worry about a zipper. the mechanism is well designed, the materials are heavy duty and the size is perfect for lobster catching (limit 7 per day in california in 2017).I saw a review mentioning that the bag isnt shark resistant... I would agree, it will.hold your catch, whether your spear fish or grab 'bugs' the bag is perfect to hold your catch, and also carry gear to the beach in... all that said, if a shark rolls up on your bag when you have a catch in there, this bag isnt some heavy kevlar that will stop a shark from eating your catch... not sure what bags can offer that security though.

Bought this bag thinking it would be more beneficial to me than a normal kill bag with push over clip, but unfortunately I was wrong! As a commercial diver I lost too many lobster due to them crawling back out! There is NO locking mechanism on these bags. If you get a decent lobster it’s gonna crawl out on you! I had to make my own lock with a small enough clip so they won’t crawl out. Works but even the one handed opening is tough to get open. I’d save your money and get anything but this!
