I actually purchased this to use in conjunction with a carabiner as a cable slip while working as a handheld camera operator for live sports productions. While it is big, about the size of my palm, the aluminum makes it very lightweight. It is very sturdy as well. While I can’t speak to its ability to protect me while rappelling down the side of a cliff, I can say it does an excellent job of protecting me when someone trips on a cable while I’m teetering on a ledge with a large camera on my shoulder. I think it is a fantastic product!

Let me start with I’m not a seasoned climber…On the inside of one of the rings, the powder coating chipped and left a bur. It’s not in the path where rope would slide, so it shouldn’t cause problems regarding wear and tear. I have used this to repel several times from a hunting saddle set up.

Learned to rappel down the back of the house... once they realized that a good belay meant they could not fall it became a favorite thing... to freak-out their pals while leaving footprints on the walls... outrageous~!
