This tool was purchased to aid in the installation of brake retainer springs on class 8 truck brakes. All I can say is that I wish I’d have bought one years ago if it was available!! What a handy tool this is! Absolutely simple to use, speedy, and does exactly what it was designed to do. Load the spring on the tool, squeeze the handle and hook/insert the spring hooks onto the brake shoes. Takes seconds to do and works great every time!! I’ve used a narrow flat bladed screw driver to do this task for years and it does work, but not even close to the speed and efficiency that can be gained with the use of this handy tool. Very useful tool. Just replace the bolt in the bracket for a better cuality bolt and you have a tool for ever.

Built with one hand or eyes closed, the welds are so bad I don’t think this tool will last for what I need it for working as a trailer mechanic. Also the rods aren’t lined up making this tool useless since the spring won’t stay in. Really disappointed since most reviews were good. Don’t buy

This thing works good for putting on brake springs but it broke after 1 year of use. Welds are flimsy and the bolts came off easily.
