This is the first time I've used a seam ripper of this style, and it is fantastic. I was pleased to see it comes with three (3!) blades, and they are very sharp.Aesthetics: The tool is very pretty; looks like the picture. The blade itself is silver and slightly wider than the tool.Blade assembly: The blade is attached like it is in a box cutter, in that is is screwed in place, unlike an x-acto knife, which uses a collar/collet system. It stays in place perfectly. It was a little hard to unscrew the tiny bolt to attach the blade, and I had to use 2 pairs of small (jewelry) pliers. It would probably be difficult to do for someone with arthritis.Cons: Lacks ergonomic features. The silicone lid is a little hard to slip on and I’m concerned that the blade will at some point pierce through it. Might be hard for some people to assemble/disassemble the blade.

Getting the hang of using this after being used to the standard seam ripper takes some practice. Having said that, this baby works little ripping miracles! Make sure you practice before using on a project as it is SHARP and cuts easily anything it contacts, including your fabric. This only happens when you use it improperly. Reach into your scrap bucket, and rip some seams to get that practice in!

This is the best seam ripper I have ever used. Very well designed and fits well in your hand. This ripper can grab the tiniest stitch. Love it!

This is a beautiful and fabulous tool. Well made, nice design, and beautiful. Seriously bad ass blade.Only issue: the screw was pretty locked tight. I ended up needing to put a few drops of beard trimmer tool oil on it, let it sit, then took a small wrench to it with a cloth around the bolt. Now it works fine. But I shouldn't have to do that for a new product. Hence, the four stars.The surgical blades for it are SUPER sharp. Better than any other cutting tool for sewing I have. I do have the same blades on another cutting too, but this is better designed for sewing.Also, I'm a lefty and this tool works great for me.Users can buy replacement #12 scalpel blades here on Amazon.
