I've been looking for one of these for ages! A quick, easy way to personalize (almost) any material that you don't want sharpie on. The weight is really great, I love the heft in my hand of the solid aluminum and the semi-chrome finish. The tungsten carbide (slightly skeptical) point is really sharp and confidently marks anything. The gold version has this lovely "cross-hatch?" pattern that adds a really pleasant grip. i didn't understand that you get three of each color in a box and was pleasantly surprised.A few very minor critiques, none of them big enough to take away a star.1: The silver version minimalist. I like that a lot. I would have liked to see the same crosshatch pattern on the gold version also on the silver for some added grip texture. (or better yet, give me a little inch wide grippy section and keep the rest sleek, sexy silver.)2: The pocket clip on the gold version isn't great. It's loose and doesn't really hold tension. This is because the gold version is round and the silver is hexagonal. It's a design problem that could easily be fixed.3: The finish isn't always consistent. Between all six there was some minor pitting in the finish, some had rough spots, scratches or a non-polished end.In the end, I absolutely love these and I'm giving them out to people in the office I like. No James, you don't get one. You were snippy with me in the morning meeting. Go buy your own.

Very pleased with the overall quality and quantity of scribes received for the price. I ended up giving a few to my mom for her projects etc.

I *use* and *lose* this kind of scribe many times a day while doing steel fabrication work. I figured that buying a bunch of them would save me time spent searching for them. So far that works. I *like* that they don’t have the usual magnet on the end that collects iron dust. The only downside is it seems they don’t stay as sharp as long as the usual carbide tip scribe. But… I’m too absent minded to own the fancy kind, so these work reasonably well as semi-disposable. A good value purchase.

Several other products have poor reviews because they are made with low grade tips. I use these for marking cuts on steel. Unlike the soapstone markers many folks use the points are sharp enough to get right up against a ruler and leave a clean line. Scratches steel, glass and the end of a hardened steel file I tested out. I've even removed welding slag when a chipping hammer was just out of reach. I imagine if dropped they will be ruined, but that's to be expected.Solid, not hollow, handles that stay where you put them without rolling away. For roughly the cost of 1 piece at the store I plan to order another set and leave them all around the shop.

Works great on mild steel and softer surfaces as a scribe. I have not tried anything harder than mild steel.
