These V-bands are nice! When you pick them up you immediately realize how nice the fit and finish is. Had no problem welding them to a mild steel muffler with some 309L rod.

These are flanges are machined to nest together and keep the piping coaxial, which is nice. They fit together like they should. They have a ~3mm deep counterbore to stick your tubing into. The 0.050" wall thickness tubing I tried was a nice fit into this "receiver". However, this feature could be a detriment if you are trying to fit a bend into it. I tried that with a piece of mandrel-bent tubing (I cut it true to the radius), and it didn't fit into the receiver well. This is not really a "ding" on this product - it just is what it is.I can't speak to the quality of the material - we'll see how it holds up. I suspect it'll be fine. The craftsmanship of the product is ok. The edges of the stainless banding are sharp, which is not the case with high-end Vibrant clamps.Another thing I don't love is the prevailing torque locknut they supplied. Basically, the last thread of the nut has been peened over so that it'll dig into the male thread - with the intent of preventing it from coming loose on account of vibrations. That's a nice thought - but it also does a nice job of chewing up the male thread. Obviously exhaust heat will cook/destroy a nylon locknut - but there are other types of prevailing torque locknuts that don't chew up threads. FWIW, I've used V band clamps a lot for various projects and I never use a "locking" nut - and I've never had one work loose. YMMV

First things first - The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the flanges. They seem to be well constructed and they welded easily onto my exhaust system. Now, the rough part is these silly clamps. The nuts supplied and pre-attached onto the V band clamps are HORRIBLE. They seem to have some sort of metal tooth that causes a permanent bond once tightened to a certain point. They did NOT tighten down to the point of actually clamping on the flanges at all, however. I got to a point where the clamps were still able to spin on the flanges, but I could not tighten the nut any more. When I tried (using a wrench, no impact/power tools) to tighten more, the bolts just completely snapped the stud right off! You can even see the stud retainer was bending before the breaking point.WHY would they use such a "permanent" piece of hardware on a clamp that is supposed to be *reusable*? It befuddles me so much.My advice: Stay away from this kit. Even if you were to replace the nuts with standard nuts with locking washers, when you tighten the clamps they would begin to bend anyway. Unfortunately, these clamps are simply just poorly made.

Works like it should but I've bought 3 of these, first 2 I bought I tried to take one off of my exhaust to do some adjustments and the nut was seized on the bolt and twisted the clamp. So bought another one thinking maybe it was just a burr in the nut but the second one done the exact same thing. Maybe I'm putting to many ugga Doug's on it or some wrong with the materials. But good for the money!

These are heavy duty, easy to weld, (if you know what your doing). They are a high quality product, period.
