As an adult, I have done a lot of mystery kits, but was looking for one for my almost 8 yr old niece. This was so much more than I expected. There is a map of the school and student sign out sheet to track the suspects route and time unaccounted for as you read the student and witness statements, and other bits of information thrown in that may be relevant to the case or just development of the students and faculty. There are photos of the scenes, people involved, classrooms, and honey the bunny, and a small magnifying card to search for details in the photos. There are multiple steps and once you determine proof that you couldn't have done it, you open another envelope to determine who did and another one to find honey. I was really impressed with the quality of this. It took us about 2 hours to solve. We were only going to do part one and the rest in the morning, but she was having so much fun, we finished it in one sitting. I do feel it would be hard for an 8 year old to do by themselves unless they were accustomed to solving mystery/escape room type kits. She immediately wanted to order another one, but all the other packages involved murder and both she and I wanted something more kid-appropriate. I wish they would make more similar to this because we really enjoyed it and at one time felt almost everyone was guilty. As for age, it really depends on the child. My niece is almost 8 and is a very good reader- probably at an 11-12 yr old level and for the most part, she could read and understand everything. As I said above, I think she would have had trouble working through it on her own, but she did find the evidence and solve it and was especially quick to find what was important in the pictures. Even as an adult who has done many more complex ones, I did enjoy it and it was fun to watch her excitement when she found important clues. I'd say ideal age to work independently would be 10-14

We played with the whole family. Just so good to get the kiddos off gaming and enthusiastically joining in.

Purchased to help entertain a friend while she's recovering from an illness. It's cleverly wrapped and very inviting, exactly what I was hoping for. Since it's a gift, I will update review once opened. I think she'll like it alot!

Honey the Bunny was perfect for our family. Our older kids had a great time trying to figure out the answers. Our youngest is 3 so we gave her a stuffed bunny to keep safe while we worked on the case. She took her job VERY seriously. They all loved the game and I loved watching them celebrate when they solved the case.

Our family really enjoyed this case. My 9yr old loved playing the main suspect. We loved that we had to really pay attention to details. Hopefully more child appropriate cases will come out.
