Take the (1/4-20 3/8-16) adapter out and you're left with an actual 5/8 female, which fits perfectly on standard 5/8 studs -- so many cheapie swivels turn out to be non-standard and don't fit. I mostly use these on the end of magic arms, but they fit great on any of my stands too. These are also a bit sturdier than others I've tried, not that they're asked to carry much weight. I typically do not use the umbrella holder on these kinds of swivels. The cold shoe doesn't have its own locking mechanism! I like having one less thing to fiddle with, but it means you can't double-lock down the flash extra tightly. Pick something else, obviously, if this might be an issue for you.

Sturdy and easy to use. The only negative is that the flash holder part is a "fixed" or non-adjustable clamp, depending 100% on the flash unit to hold the flash unit. Slightly more costly units have built-in clamps that tighten with a thumbscrew, which gives an ease of setup and added security so the flash does not fall off. Knowing of this "soft engineering point, I can deal with it and it is quite functional.

If you have a flash or constant light on a stand and it doesn't support its own diffusion holder, this is the piece you need. I was working with hot tungsten lamps for a video job in a semi-permanent studio by one of my clients, and it was basically a 500 Watt bulb in a dish, which obviously casts a very harsh bright light with lots of shadow. I picked out some shoot-through umbrellas to get some basic diffusion of the light, and added this piece to go in between the light fixture and the stand to hold the umbrella rod. If you have worked with light setups like this before, you should be familiar as it is pretty standard/basic. Like other adapters of this sort, there is a hinge that lets you tilt the light to get a little extra control over where you are aiming. If you are using this with off camera flashes that use a shoe mount, it already comes with that preinstalled. In my case, I didn't need the cold shoe mount (the video lights screw into a 1/4" 20 threaded bolt), so I just removed the shoe mount which revealed exactly the connection I needed underneath. Very useful piece of kit for a simple setup.

Durable and precisely machined mount of improved design eliminates unnecessary adjustment screw and clamp for photo flashes or other accessories such as radio triggers that typically incorporate their own locking mechanism, reducing failure points, while adding a front stop to achieve an even more secure fit. Serrated rotating hub incorporates multiple stops to provide accurate aiming and prevents slipping when tightened. Devices such as flash triggers with a locking wheel fit very nicely, although pressure may be required to fully advance the locking lever (if desired) on some devices so equipped.

They are inexpensive and will do the job but the most important part...the cold shoe adaptor on top has NO CLAMP or any way to keep the flash attached to it. The flash simply slides on and can just as easily slide off meaning you could have a broken flash with these. Find one that has a clamp.

J'utilise ces supports pour les cliper sur mes têtes de trépied et pour pouvoir fixer les flashs cobra dessus. Matériel fiable et performant. Un bon rapport qualité-prix. Je recommande.
