The handrail is very sturdy. I used thread locker on the 2 screws that holds the plate to the rail. The screws and anchors are not very good unless you are screwing into flat wood. I was going into brick so I used number 12 anchors and 2 and a half inch screws. The rail is solid. If going onto vinyl siding I would use 3 inch number 12 screws and put a 3/8 by 1 inch piece of wood behind the plate where the screws go to keep from crushing the siding. 4 stars only because of the screws and anchors that come with it.

We have a high step coming from the garage into the hall, making it a little difficult to keep my balance. The handrail gives me the confidence I need to make the step up and down, as well as some much-needed support.
