update 6 december 2022.after a few months i notice that it does actually slide around a bit more than is ideal, but tbh my old one slid around about as much and it had spikes, so i'm not sure it's a product issue as much as it is a thick carpet issue.the surface has become a bit scuffed in heavy use areas, but it's impossible to see unless i look at that one angle where the light hits it just so. my carpet pattern is kinda noisy though, so it might be more visible on a darker, more solid surface like hardwood. i'm not crazy about the scuff marks, but due to the feel and finish of the material i think they're within my expectations.the mat has not dented one bit; aside from the invisible scuffs, it is completely undamaged and remains a solid and sturdy plastic board. i can sometimes hear the carpet compress underneath it and it makes a funny sound but it doesn't have any noticable give.i am not crazy about the price tag, but at the same time trying to find one of these that works is such a frustrating process and i'm glad it's over. i'd gladly pay $69.99 (looks like it's gone up a few bucks...) again if i needed to, but i'm confident i won't unless i intentionally try to snap this thing in half.hope your experience is as good as mine!- purchased 3 october 2022- SHIPS FLAT- no studs/spikes on the bottom- works on 1/2" pile carpet- very clear, very sturdy, not too slipperyshopping for these things is the worst. the reviews are all bad for all of them. i bought two from kuyal and they were awful to unroll. i cut myself on the dumb fking spikes so many times. both "thick carpet mats" were soft enough that my chair was getting stuck in divots. me + the chair are ~200lb.this mat is made of very clear and sturdy plastic. the edges are a little sharp, but it sinks into the 1/2" carpet enough that i don't expect it to be a problem. if it does, i have a sander.at first i was worried that it didn't have any studs or spikes, but somehow that's not an issue. i really can't move it intentionally while i'm sitting, even if i try to use the wall as leverage. don't forget to peel the film off both sides -- very satisfying.the surface provides a pleasant amount of resistance to my chair moving around without being at all slippery. stepping on it with bare feet, it kinda feels like glass with a tiny amount of give.after spending a total of probably six hours trying to find a stupid plastic mat for my chair i am relieved to be done. this was a little expensive but worth it just to be finished.i literally just unboxed it; these are my initial impressions. i'll update my review if it cracks.

I was in the market for a new mat for my chair. Like everybody else I was tired of wasting my money on those soft plastic ones. I was going to buy a glass mat but after reading a lot of reviews I was afraid of it shattering underneath of my chair. I came across this one on Amazon and since it had free returns, I decided to give it a try. When it arrived, I noticed that when I picked up the package it was a bit flimsy and thought this isn’t going to work. But I tried it anyway and am glad I did. It is as clear as glass and has no apparent give to it at all. It sits flat on my carpet and looks beautiful. My chair glides nice and smoothly on it and even if I roll off of the edge of the mat, I can roll right back on without any problem. It does tend to slide a bit , but not much. Plus you can get anti- slip pads for it if it becomes a problem for you. It might be a little pricey for what it is, but I don’t have to worry about it shattering underneath me! I really like it and would recommend if you are looking for a good quality mat that your chair will actually roll across, you might give this one a try.Besides, it has free returns if you don’t like it. But, I kind of doubt you will return it after trying it.

Like many others, during the COVID lockdown I began working remotely and needed to build a home office. The kids are all grown and moved out on their own now, so we turned our daughter's room into an office/spare bedroom. We redeorated, painted and got new carpeting. I was looking for a carpet protector but didn't want one of those thin plastic carpet protectors with the spikes on the bottom - been there, done that, and it seems like those get discolored, crack easily and don't last long. I saw this one and it looked thick enough. It had overall great reviews and the description said it was more durable than tempered glass and can withstand up to 1200 pounds of pressure. I'm not a small man, but nowhere even remotely close to 1200 pounds! So I bought one, and it was really great! It was crystal clear, the carpet looked great underneath, and my chair rolled on it perfectly. It didn't seem to scuff with my chair rollers and I was very happy with it.One thing I found was it did tend to move around a bit on the carpet - not really noticeably while sitting on it, but over the course of a few hours I would look and it has moved away from the desk a couple inches. I just moved it back in place and it didn't bother me.One day I was sitting down and dropped something on the floor and bent down to pick it up and I heard a sound like something had snapped. I looked around and didn't see anything and didn't think much about it. A bit later I heard it again and that's when I saw a small crack developing in the floor protector. It had been about 6 months since I bought it so I was not able to return it to Amazon. I tried to contact the seller since the product description said it came with a 12 month warranty, but I could not find the contact information for the seller. I called Amazon and they agreed to let me return it after all and I ordered a new one. Same experience - it worked well and everything was fine...again for about 6 months. The floor protector cracked again, and this time it was much more noticeable. I decided just to keep it because the cracks didn't seem to affect the chair rolling on it and I didn't want the hassle of trying to return it again, especially since when I returned the first one I had to pack it in cardboard before the UPS store would send it, since this is solid and doesn't fold up. Well, the cracks over the past couple weeks have gotten worse so I'm going to have to find something else.Overall it seems like most people have had great experiences with this product, and so did I for a while. Too bad it didn't last for as long as I hoped.
