This non Microsoft surface charger had me a bit nervous as I just was unsure if it would fit & function as well as the Microsoft official charger. However, especially given the price paid, I could not be happier... It functions at least as well as the charger which came with my Surface Book in terms of charging capabilities, but it actually fits the Surface Book connect port better than the Microsoft version when using the display adapter, dp1.2 port at the same time to connect to an external monitor- in fact, I'd bought the real, Microsoft Surface Dock/charger to use a while ago for docking my Surface Book given it had 2 Display Port 1.2 Adapter ports + HDMI & 4x USB 3.0 jacks, however, the connection doesn't hold as well as this slim version, so I kept losing my display, back up drive, etc because it wouldn't remain connected consistently or nearly as well as this 3rd party charger does. Also, when using the display port w this charger directly on my Surface Book rather than using 1 of the 2 on the official dock instead, because this is a slim design & only is carrying power, it fits/plugs in much easier than the Microsoft Surface Dock I have, which won't fit the surface connect jack well when the display port cable is plugged into my Surface Book directly rather than through the dock... While it's just a basic charger, I've found it's a better option when docking my Surface over the Microsoft Surface Dock due to fit, function, better/reliable connection & more compact connect plug. The cable length is similar to the OEM charger cable & I've had zero issues as far as complications from using a 3rd party product. Instead of using the official Surface Dock, because the connection wasn't holding consistently, I'm now using this charger for power, a DP1.2 connection port on my PC for the external monitor & then a $15 USB 3.0 extender to connect added/backup drives, wireless keyboard/mouse, etc & it's much more reliable this way than attempting to use my Microsoft Surface Dock. So overall I was hesitant initially about getting this as was worried about using 3rd party equipment, but I'm actually happier using this charger when I dock my Surface Book than I had been w the Microsoft Surface Dock I'd bought previously. It's a great product, works well & solved the connection issues I was having using the display port on my PC because even the OEM charger (not docking charger/station, but rather original charger out of the box) wouldn't fit into the connect port with the dp1.2 port in use plugged directly into my computer. So couldn't be happier & will probably buy another to replace the OEM charger soon, which is beginning to have connection issues as well. Good quality, good value, great job for what it's made for- highly recommended for sure!

It's too early for me to really know the reliability of this charger but my initial impressions are very good. It starts charging the moment I connect it, it feels well-built, and they even included a little velcro cable tie. It also stays cool during operation. The price compared to the OEM charger is a no-brainer.The OEM charger that came with my Surface laptop has always blinked a few times when I would plug it in before it began charging. This was from day one. I assumed this was normal because other than that, it worked fine and would keep the laptop charged. However, recently, I started experiencing issues where it would stop charging and I would have un/replug multiple times to get the OEM charger working again.This replacement charger has not blinked a single time - it starts charging instantly.So far this is looking like a great replacement for the OEM charger. I'll update the review in the future if necessary.

The charger works as it should. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that it's very light and feels a bit cheap compared to the original charger. Silver lining, it's lighter to carry around.

This Surface charger is a great replacement! It's powerful enough to quickly charge my Surface Pro and the cord is plenty long. I like that it's compatible with older Surface models too, just in case I need to charge another device. It feels well-made and the price is very reasonable.

I was looking for the quality and reliability of an MS brand charger- without the high cost. I found this one for a low price and it arrived only 2 days after ordering it. I figured chargers either worked or they didn't, none were better or worse. But this one is different. Most notably to me is this charger box has an additional USB port meaning it has an ability to quickly charge other devices. The time to full charge has even decreased by about 15 minutes from my previous charger. It has a sleek design and matte black coating. There is a small- but bright- light on the actual plug to show that it is fully connected and charging. The light is noticeable but not so bright that it keeps you awake. The plug that goes into the outlet is smaller than standard for more room on the outlet for other devices. It includes a standard velcro cord holder and a clip to keep the long end connected to the rest. I also use this velcro to keep it in a certain place on the wall behind my desk. It is long enough to charge my tablet from across the room but has a shorter length on the far side so that the box doesn't keep pulling the plug out of the tablet when I move it around. The magnetic connector is firm enough to make a click and stay in while the computer is picked up but does not drag it off the table when I trip over it. There were no unnecessary stickers to remove or to get faded over time, but rather a small translucent gray print to show vital technical details. The cord coating is thick to protect from damage and the bases are thick to prevent bending to ensure a lasting product.

Doesn't work at all. Beware! I've followed all of the troubleshooting steps. The steps are well written and logical. My home outlet works, my original power supply works, all of the connectors are snug, no damage, no frayed cable, nothing. I've had problems with this charger from the beginning but I rarely needed it so I didn't bother asking to have it replaced or writing a review. But now it's clearly dead for no apparent reason.

When the power cord to my surface pro died, I went on Amazon and bought a less expensive cord. The magnet was weak, and it was forever becoming coming detached, and less than a year later, it died completely. I purchased this one and couldn't be happier. The magnetic attraction is easily as good as my original, and the charging system keeps my tired old battery topped off. I just wish I would have bought this one first..
