U.S. Solid 1/4" 12V DC Normally Closed Solenoid Valve, VITON gasket, Solid Brass
The U.S. Solid electric solenoid valve features a durable brass body, suitable for outdoor but not underwater use. It's favored by customers for DIY projects, moderate temperature and chemical applications, as well as for controlling flow in irrigation, reverse osmosis, and motorcycle systems.
Direction of the Flow
Most U.S. Solid Valves are UNIDIRECTIONAL
Make a note of the arrow on your valve. Most U.S. Solid valves are unidirectional. This means they are intended to flow in one direction only, in the direction of the arrow. If connected in opposite directions, the valve will not actuate properly (will not close for Normally Closed valves). Additionally, be sure the medium passing through is filtered. If not, particles will cling to the gasket over time, which can cause it to not seal properly.
THREADING
U.S. Solid Valves follow National Standards for pipe thread. We suggest the use of Teflon tape to ensure the seal of the NPT threading. The tapered male and female thread form angled surfaces that with increased torque squeeze the Teflon tape resulting in a tight seal.
OVERHEATING
These valves should be energized for less than 8 hours. While most do not have more than 18W of power, the coils are in a contained area and can burn out if energized for too long. We suggest a computer fan to keep the coil cool if necessary to energize continuously for extended periods.
POLARITY
- For valves with 2 wires, the valve will actuate regardless of which terminal each wire is connected to (+ or -). Some units include a ground wire. Open up the connector and look for the ground symbol (as shown in the corner).
- For valves with a ground wire, please be sure to ground the valve.
GASOLINE and PRESSURE WARNING
- NBR gaskets should not be used with gasoline, kerosene, or other petroleum products. If your valve requires contact with these substances, opt for one with a VITON gasket.
- All solenoid valves need some pressure to actuate. This is especially true of pilot or indirectly operated valves.

Used to control propane to my RV stove.. I wanted something that kept gas off to stove in RV unless I was using it. This works perfectly! When I want the supply on, I energize coil/open valve with a switch wired into it. Would absolutely buy again. Have used for 1 year before leaving this review. Never had a problem! ðŸ‘

I waited to write this review - This has been on my boat in a partially protected area for months, exposed to all kinds of weather extremes, including salt water, and it is still working great.This is a good affordable option for a marine propane solenoid. At this price, I don't see how you can go wrong.

WARNING: for those using this with Propane, make sure it is downstream of your regulator! It is not rated for tank pressure.Almost made this mistake. It functions well so far.

I am tired of trying to turn on a small to medium flow, water stream, in my kitchen sink. I currently have a Moen faucet that prefers to come on full blast every time I try to use it. It's one of those one handle ones. I have to fiddle with it to get a moderate stream. I tend to use a lot more water than I want, every time I turn it on. I thought I would tap into the faucet spout with a warm water bypass controlled by this 1/4" electric valve. I have a Chinese temp controlled mixing valve that provides hot water to the valve and I put a tee on the spout line with a check valve on the output to keep regular faucet handle water from back flowing into the electronic valve, when not in use. I installed a push button on the wall behind the sink to turn on the valve. The 1/4" valve is large enough to produce a warm water stream at about half the full flow of the regular kitchen sink faucet preventing me from having to mess with the handle so I save about half the water that I used to use. One important thing is that I installed a hot water pump loop to the water heater so I don't have to run the hot water full blast for 30 seconds or more to get, almost instant, hot water, so the electric valve works even better. This little innovation makes using the kitchen sink much more enjoyable while I cook and clean. I can't wait to see the reduction in my water bill.

Needed a solenoid for the airhorn on my motorhome. Initially purchased a cheaper solenoid that failed immediately upon installation. This solenoid is made of brass and metal and is quality. Came with instructions to make sure you install correctly, (solenoid is directional) With the universal 1/4 pipe threads on the valve you can adapt any fittings to it for your individual use. Works awesome!
