So this is replacing a ball valve. The ball valve is great, but it is large, and really hard to get to at the bottom of my beer vat. This one has a shorter lever, but it is easy to turn, AND I can unlatch and turn it with one hand in a smooth motion. I could not do that with the ball valve.So this is able to seal water at gravity pressure. The seal seems to be soft rubber, and needs some squish and rubbing to seal, so it will be fine in my application, but it is not a replacement to a ball valve for every application. I think my ball valve has a hard ptfe seal and is good to 250+psi one side and vacuum on the other. I won't be doing that with a butterfly valve that has a soft valve seat.So for the home brewers out there, this is a great valve option.It locks fully open, half open and fully closed.To operate the lock, you pull the handle out slightly, and then turn the lever in the direction you want.A full open to close cycle is 1/4th turn.Requires a quarter of the force a ball valve requires.The fit and finish is mostly really good, but the handle and the ball end are a little rough, and the ball may have some minor marks. Because the handle is also the locking bar, it has a slightly loose fit so it can slide in and out. It6 requires slightly more pressure to close to the point of locking, due to you needing to squish the gasket a bit before you can seat the pin in the locking hole.I think these serve my needs well.

These are nice quality valves. Clean finishes and smooth closure. The handle seems to be a little loose but I have this feel on other brands. It doesn't come with any gaskets so you may want to pick up a few. I would recommend if you are in the market.

I am a craft beer enthusiast, and I also teach homebrewing. I always need extra valves and when I saw this two-pack of butterfly valves, I thought I would give it a try. The unit I got was the 1.5" Tri-clamp edition. These are made of 304 Stainless Steel which means that they are made from food-grade stainless steel. The quality is on par with other high-quality valves. These are easy to install, easy to use, and easy to clean. These are somewhat heavier than my other valve and have a solid feel to them.The valve itself has three locked positions; closed, half open, and fully open. You can also use unlocked openings as well but stand the risk that the opening may or may not stay in that position.Immediately after I got this package and inspected it thoroughly. I did not notice any chips, pivots, scratches, dings, rust, or defects, at all. The finish was flawless. From the name of the manufacturer, U.S. Solid, I am assuming it is made in the USA. I researched and found the U.S. Solid is out of Cleaveland, OH.I really like these valves, and they were easy to use. I recommend these vales.

I got another set of these type of valves. These are cleaner in the surface finish, having no scratches. They have very smooth actuation with little resistance. They are all solid stainless steel valves, with laser engraving. The handles have a integrated locking mechanism that prevents accidental opening or closing of the valve. They can easily be disassembled for cleaning and to service of the seals. For the premium price, you would think they would come with silicon Tri-clamp seals and clamps but they do not.
