This is my personal experience: the place in Peru I had the privilege of staying- it wasn’t always necessary to have these. We only needed them if what we plugged in was a hot tool. BUT I still think it’s worth the purchase if you’re going out of the country- you never know what you’ll encounter and they are good plugs! They worked well and I would rather be safe than sorry!

Did not work at our Buenos Aires hotel. Plugged into wall and immediately blew out circuit with a flash and a puff of smoke. After the hotel replaced the lamps and reset the circuit breaker they gave us one of their adapters and we threw away the useless and dangerous units from Amazon.

I researched what type of adapters I would need for my trip to Argentina and Chile. This 2-pack containing a Type E and Type I adapter only met half of my needs. The Type I plug, which the product description said would work in Chile, did not. The prongs were too large (in diameter) for the outlets in the 7 hotels I stayed in.The Type E adapter worked perfectly in Argentina. I definitely appreciated having two outlets so I could charge two devices at once.
