I needed a HDMI to USB C adapter to project onto a tv screen from my laptop. Wasn’t sure if just HDMI adapter would work since I was sure how old or new the TV work. This adapter worked great. Response was lag free, great picture quality. Would definitely recommend.

As advertised. works out of the box - without a hiccup on ubuntu running on a SP 7 with a 26' HDMI cable to my tv. have only the one USBC port and didn't like hooking a USB-C dock/splitter with PD just for HDMI.

I didn't have anything 8K to test this with, so I couldn't test the 8K claims, but I was able to use it to display 4K@60Hz from a mac and from a Samsung Galaxy Phone. Both devices appeared to be limited to a max of that resolution and refresh rate.On a Dell Alienware laptop, with a Samsung 4K@144Hz HDR TV, I was able to hit 4K@120Hz. For some reason the screen would go black when I attempted 144Hz, but 120Hz worked. I was also able to turn on HDR without an issue. The one problem I did encounter in this setup was that audio would drop out for a few milliseconds at a fixed interval - I don't believe that was the fault of this dongle though as I had a similar one from another manufacture that did the same thing - the audio issue I believe was related to the laptop. The device does get fairly warm while in use, but that's often typical for these things and didn't appear to impact operation. This appears to be physically well built with metal connectors on both ends, some sort of a semi-hard, semi-flexible plastic/rubber boot at the joints from the metal casing to the cable, and then a braided cable. Physically it's pretty sturdy - I wouldn't expect there to be any issues with it physically coming apart.Compatibility with this device will be important, so make sure your intended device supports video over your USB-C port before purchasing the device. For anyone curious, I plugged this into a Linux device to get a dump of some of the specs and found the following:[519002.292385] usb 3-5: new full-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd[519003.451257] usb 3-5: New USB device found, idVendor=343c, idProduct=0000, bcdDevice= 0.00[519003.451264] usb 3-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3[519003.451267] usb 3-5: Product: USB Type-C Digital AV Adapter[519003.451269] usb 3-5: Manufacturer: xxxxxxxx[519003.451271] usb 3-5: SerialNumber: 000000000000I've not modified any of the above, so Manufacturer and SerialNumber were reported as seen there. I'm going to give it 5 stars, because of the issues I identified, I'm not sure any are related to the device itself and while the device does get pretty warm, it didn't appear to be an issue during my testing.

I got this to make lessons and presentations mobile and easy to do no matter where I was.For example, I teach a couple of classes a month at church, and this allows me to prepare any multimedia I want to use and show it from my laptop or even phone or tablet. I just plug the USB-C into my device, and plug the HDMI from a monitor or projector into the other end of this adapter, and I can easily present slides, video, audio, etc. It's such a simple thing to make presenting so much easier.I've used it with an HP laptop, Samsung tablet, and Samsung phone, and lent it to others to use on their various devices which are unknown to me, but it worked with them too.I normally have it plugged in for an hour at a time, with the monitor running the entire time, and never had any issues with connection, audio, visual, heating up, etc.Very handy tool for a doable price.Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.

I was not able to make this work, but I'm not sure if that's because of the product or my phone/projector, so I gave a median 3 stars as it could go either way. I'm not sure what other uses there might be for this connector, but I wanted to be able to connect my phone directly to the HDMI port on a small projector. The projector works well with my portable DVD player via regular HDMI, so I thought it would work with the phone. The projector didn't seem to be getting any signal from the phone with this connector no matter what app I tried. If you are trying to have a phone connect to a TV or projector like I am, consider a device that will plug into the TV/projector and then connect via Bluetooth to the phone instead of using this adapter. PS, I also learned that you cannot charge your phone while using this HDMI connector, so if you want to play a movie from the phone, you need to make sure you have enough battery, but if you use a different device to plug into the projector and then connect the phone via Bluetooth, you still have the phone's USB-C plug to charge it while casting, which is more flexible, so that's part of why I'm going that route instead.

I got this for my Chromebook so I could send video to a projector in the backyard. The Chromebook only has USB-C out, so this was perfect. The picture quality was great, the adapter worked perfectly. The cable length was fine, because you are adding a HDMI cable to it. So the short cable actually is good for this purpose.

I've used this with both my work laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad) and my personal M4 Macbook Pro to connect to a 4K monitor. It works great with both. I haven't had any issues with the video signal. The only issue I've experienced is that it gets quite hot. Not burning hot but concerningly warm. The heat issue is worse with the Lenovo, but it happens with the Macbook as well. I haven't used this adapter for more than a few hours, but the heat definitely puts me off the idea of using it for a full day.
