About this item

  • Model: KP004 Bearings are designed to accommodate a shaft diameter of 20mm. Come with 8pcs screws and 4pcs key wrench.
  • Material: Zinc alloy housing, rust-proof and durable, providing stability and corrosion resistance.
  • Bearing Type: The pillow block bearing uses a standard ball bearing insert, which allows for high radial loads and moderate axial loads. Self-aligning, capable of compensating for misalignment between the shaft and the housing.
  • Usage: Flange mounted pillow bearings find applications in conveyor systems, food processing equipment, printing machinery, and more. They are designed to support rotating shafts and provide stability and smooth operation.
  • Lubrication: The bearing is pre-lubricated with grease and ready for immediate installation. The appropriate lubricating oil can be added through a grease nipple after using for some time.

I tested one of these to destruction and learned a few things that might be of use.1) These are available from numerous suppliers. All of them seem to be identical, regardless of supplier. So go with whoever you trust or whoever gives you the best price. They’re probably all made in the same factory in China.2) Most of them come with the bearing misaligned with the bearing mount, usually in the horizontal direction, but sometimes vertically as well. However, as many reviewers have commented, this is easily fixed by clamping the bearing mount in a vise and using a broad blade screwdriver to twist the bearing into alignment.3) The bearing itself is a non-standard size, with a 21mm outer diameter and an 8mm inner diameter. (Standard sized bearings used for other purposes such as skateboard wheels have 22mm outer diameter with 8mm inner diameter.) So don’t plan on replacing the bearing.4) The bearing itself is sealed under a plastic ring and the inner balls are embedded in grease. Consequently, adding lubricant from the outside doesn’t do any good.5) The bearings were stiff when I got them, and didn’t rotate very freely. I was able to improve the rotation considerably by locking an 8mm diameter rod within the bearing using the set screws provided, clamping the pillow block itself in a vise, and then locking the 8mm rod into my drill motor. A minute or two of fast rotation (in both directions) using the drill motor resulted in a considerable freeing up of the bearing and much smoother rotation subsequently. With these adjustments, the bearings work very well indeed.

They worked for what I needed. Only reason for the 4 starts is one seemed to be a little off in alignment but not enough for my application. For the price I am very happy.

These all pretty much look the same no matter the seller but UXCELL sells the good ones. The bore is equal on all 8 that I bought and the bearing was easy to move in the housings to, 'true them up'.

Inside diameter is only 7.9mm and a true 8mm rod will not fit inside.

Unfortunately these are very poor quality. They stick so badly that you have to use a long screwdriver and pliers to move the gimbal. Lubricants do not help. I'm going to spend a little more and get some other brand. To be clear, the bearings for the shaft work fine, but because the gimbals stick so badly, alignment is difficult. I hate to post a bad review, but this is definitely only one star.

UPDATED REVIEW: One other reviewer mentioned this but I didn't realize how critical it was until I received my order. Of the 4 pieces, 3 are "out of square" by a remarkable amount. Thus, when I inserted my lead screw, it either "tilted" up or down, depending on which way I mounted the bearing on my flat surface. Only 1 was close to square.Originally, I stated that I used that as my starting point and put one in a bench vise and tapped the bearing to physically move it within the housing to get it to line up better. However, I saw some comments on another, practically identical, item and one reviewer said that that bearing is "ball mounted" and that you can in fact adjust the angle with a little effort. I can confirm that these bearings are also ball-mounted and they are adjustable. The bearing does fit very snugly but if you put a thick Phillips screw driver in the bearing and use the screwdriver's length for leverage, you can twist it quite a bit. It is tricky to get it exactly dialed in but for all the most precise work, I think you'll do fine.
