I really wish I would have known about Cobalt drill bits years ago. these things drilled through hardened steel incredibly well, and I mean steel that dulled a regular drill bit in a couple of seconds. they even came in the odd metric size to be able to make the correct threaded holes I needed. I am never changing back to regular high-speed steel drill bits again.

I purchased these cobalt plated drill bits and others from Uxcell to drill holes in aluminium and cold rolled steel. They have held up really well after about 50 holes in 1/4 and 3/8" cold rolled steel (1018). I use lots of cutting fluid when drilling to keep the heat down and lubricate the bit, all of the holes were made using my drill press set at the lowest speed (about 550rpm)
