The LEDs "work", they are 850nm, however they are incredibly dim. In the attached photos you can see an infrared reflective marker (illuminated by the camera's 850nm IR LEDs) on my lab's Optitrack Prime X13 cameras, along with the purchased LED. The cameras(designed to capture 850nm light) can only detect the LEDs on the highest gain setting, and even then they are incredibly dim. I tried driving the LEDs without a series resistor, and even then they were incredibly dim, I would at least expect them to burn brightly while quickly dying.
