The separable components of thrust ball bearings are interchangeable. This facilitates mounting and maintenance inspections.
Thrust Ball Bearings consist of a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball and cage assembly.
They are designed to accommodate axial loads and locate a shaft axially, in one direction only, and must not be subjected to any radial load.
Brass Shaft and Housing Washer provide high and uniform hardness, good wear resistance.

Used two pairs of these, one for the z axis stepper motors, to distribute the load of the x gantry to the stepper motor housing. For that application the difference isn't super noticeable: banding is a little less, slightly quieter. The second is for "Hula" feet for the 3D printer, where one side of the thrust bearings is installed backwards to provide lateral movement instead of axial. SUPER cool use case, and really lowered the vibration transfer from machine to machine. Excellent quality, and great product

Two of the washers were 5 mil the other two washers were smaller and could not be used. Very disappointed. I ended up having to use something else.
