First of all, the price is incredible. Or, more likely, the price on this one is reasonable and the other brands that cost $60-$80 are gouging badly! ;)Also, it works great. The CEL that had been coming and going is now gone, and the engine is running noticeably better. Best it's felt in a couple of years, actually (makes me wonder how long my old knock sensor was bad, but not bad enough to throw a CEL).As far as changing it goes, it's extremely simple if you can handle undoing one bolt and one plug, and putting those both back in. A socket drive extension is a must (I used a 24-inch), and small hands would probably help. Sadly, I only had one of those things, so my hands got a bit scratched up. :)

So far, works great! Car was generating a CEL code for knock sensor. Shop said it would be $175 minimum. For $12, and five minutes work, I did it myself. Check engine light has been off for two days, and the car defintely idles better and seems like it has a little more oomph at the low end. Will update if anything changes.Search Youtube, there are several videos for how to change this knock sensor on a Subaru. A few handy tips, and all you need is a 12mm socket with an extension.

Tried to save a few bucks by ordering this and it didn't work at all. Went to the local parts store and, yes it cost more, but it worked perfectly. proceed with caution.

Took about 10 minutes to install, and mostly because I soaked the bolt in PB blaster just to be safe. Check engine light is gone and the cars acceleration has improved significantly, no more hesitation when I hit the gas to get on highways. When installing the new one, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLT. Snug is fine, you don't want to snap the bolt. Watch some videos on it, have a couple extensions and a 12mm socket for your ratchet and you are good to go. Can't beat the price here, local store wanted almost 10x this price.

Had knock sensor code, put this in didn’t solve problem. Garage tested it to be defective and replaced it with oem which solved the problem. Oem part 10 times more expensive but works.

replacement on a 2000 forester 2.5. only issue is stripping bolt hole when replacing, common heavy handed issue as I found out. Didn't want to heli-coil the stripped hole due to age and miles on car so I relocated to a hole to the rear of the original position that was factory threaded the same size (lazy and easy fix). P.S. JB weld didn't work either. Doesn't exactly fit with all the surface as original position @ 80 % but it has performed well in this position with no ck eng light! As indicated in some info search, these sensors are tuned to the engines harmonics. As far as I'm concerned as long as its feedback is within the parameters needed for the ECU to operate normally and not indicate knocking and enriching the fuel I'm good. Important thing is; engine runs fine at 210K, gas mileage and power is back to normal. Good purchase!

Great price. Installed about a month ago and working like a charm. Local Subaru dealer wanted $149. It was easy to install. Lots of Youtube videos to watch if you are unsure how to do it.
