Description:
On most lenses, the manufacturers provide a focusing mechanism that extends only a few millimetres, partly to keep down costs and partly to restrict the lens to extensions for which its optics are optimised. To provide additional extension, one or more extension tubes can be added between the camera and the lens, to make the lens focus at closer distances and therefore produce higher magnification.

The 42mm thread pitch is wrong for telescope/camera extensions. Also the short extension had a white material deposited on the male threads. Almost looked like harrdened flux maybe from anodizing. I picked it out of the threads with an exacto knife thinking that was the reason it would not screw completely on. Nope. The threads are a different pitch. A complete waste.

A cheap simple concept. 42mm male at one end, 42mm female at the other. Puts distance between the lens and your camera/adapter for closer focusing.

built quality concerns me to use it on cameras, mostly due to metal dust that might be created from the rough screwing, or just fall off from the badly finished internal surfaces
