Even using a 4mil bag, I use these to avoid bone punctures.

I'd give it 5 stars, but you could just as easily take a 3mil bag and put it over the sharp pieces of bone inside the bag. I thought this was a bag, not a piece of 6mil plastic, not deducting any stars for this should have read more clearly. It's made from the same type as their vacuum bags.Pros: good, thick does what it is intended to do.Cons: Should be cheaper, overpriced for what it is. You could just as easily used heavy duty aluminum foil crunched up over the sharp pointy areas of what ever you're sealing. You could also take a 3 mil bag and put it over the sharp points and slid it into another bag, which is what I will do in the future. I can see the bone guard possibly moving inside the bag and exposing the sharp bones, hasn't happened yet but I think it could.

I've owned a chamber vacuum for many years because the quality of the packaging, the ability to seal liquids and the price of the bags are much cheaper than a traditional vacuum sealer. The one problem I've had is when a sharp point on a bone or shrimp shell punctures the bag, due to the nature of its material. Now I'm protected when I slide my meat into some bag and don't have to worry about the bone piercing it and ending up with problems a few months down the road. Better safe than sorry, I say, so when in doubt, use a double layer of protection to be sure you're covered.

I like the bone guards but I ordered sheets and got rolls. I am told that they only have rolls now. They need to change their description. Haven't tried them yet but the sheets work great so I hope these work as well.

Have been using for years. They are a must when packaging meats with bones to prevent eventual punctures. Wouldnt pkg meat without them. We pkg hundreds of lbs of meat annually and these provide long lasting protection with vacuum packing

The picture of the box of 150 bone guard sheets is not what you get. It comes as a roll. No label. No idea if there are 150 sheets. It is perforated so you have to pull them apart. Really not what it says you are ordering!

I use this on pheasants to protect the vac bag from sharp wing bone. I have used them for years.
