I have a few Yooperlites (common rock from upper parts of Michigan and UP Michigan) and they have speckled fluorescent material. Before I got this, I had a cheap UV light that barely worked and only if I had the flashlight close and while it's dark, which made hunting for more Yooperlites useless. This flashlight was fairly pricey compared to the first one ($3) but it is of narrower UV range and has stronger output which meant I could hunt for rocks at night without having to crawl on the rocks. Also it's easier to see the glowing rock even under indoor lights, useful for show and tell type presentations.

works great! The light does get kind of hot when you leave it on for a while. The UV light does drain the battery quickly. try it on your passport, driver's license and currency.

May not be the purest UV light, but it works. Seems to illuminate many common surfaces to some degree, but those that luminesce, are in stark contrast. Have used it to identify calcite and fluorite. Did a sweep of the bathroom and it appears that my wife does a very good job of cleaning.

I liked this version because it uses batteries. I works great. I bought it for crystals, but you will be surprised at the dust and grime you can see in your house with it.

Very bright - excellent for making my fluorescent rocks and minerals pop. Only kind of downside is that it churns through batteries pretty quickly but I’m not surprised based on the power. You’ll notice after a while that the light isn’t quite as powerful anymore - that’s your hint to go ahead and put in new batteries. Once fresh batteries are in, it’s back to full force.

Used them for rock hunting, bought two. One worked amazing the other got hot and quit working, light dimmed and went out. Did find some rocks on our trip so not a total fail.

I didn't understand the difference between 395nm and 365 nm at first either. If you are looking for UV reactions within rocks, this is the light you want! The purple-ish photo is with the 395nm - it's ok. The other photo is with 395nm light. You can sure see a difference!

This is a solid, quality black light that by far exceeds others I’ve bought. You won’t regret spending the extra money. No more hunched over 2†from floor asking “is it isn’t it†the offending smell cause. It also shows new from old stains clearly. That’s the good news. The bad news is you may never feel clean again & may want your seemingly clean home deep-cleaned & or painted afterwards. It will show EVERY, spot of dirt, dust, water mark & all bodily fluids that you didn’t realise were there in a way that CSI would be proud of, including faded ones you’ve cleaned in the past & only show with black light. So yes get it, don’t use it before eating, remind yourself only a top sterile facility will look good & then cheer yourself up by putting on your white outfit & dance around like an 80s holiday disco admiring your super white teeth & tan 🤣
