I thought this was a smaller unit by looking at the pictures so when I opened the box I was surprised to see it is a full size meter. It is a solid well built device and it does what it says. I don't have an industrial meter to compare it with to determine if it is really providing the insulation resistance it claims or not but it does work for what I need it for.

I suspect it was defective out of the box. Returned it and spent 3x the price on a commercial version.

This unit always displays need to switch to higher reading even when you just turn it on.. It doesn't show the resistant reading on display but a 100th of a second at best /not even able to see long enough to write down to known if good or bad . Poor instruction
