They lay flat on their own. Big and sturdy. The groove on the bottom is open, so no cable retainment, but seem to be fine that way and easy to install.Strong rubber smell when opened. But I'm using outside. Beware if using indoors, smell will likely fade away though.

I needed this to protect garden gardena hoses in the driveway from cars coming and going, in the spring and summer.They work perfectly, Meanwhile they are now in use for the winter, protecting the car charging cable when reversing out the garage.Good heavy slightly flexible rubber material and easy to setup.
