I would highly recommend this scope!* Cost, very reasonable!* Easy to assemble.* Quality flex arm.* Focal distance, awesome.* Optics adjustment works smoothly.- It only came with one with a single thumb screw to secure the microscope to the mount.- Not a fan of the head rest, never had one before.- The rubber eye cups that go on the ocular lens were too loose.- Be sure to loosen the grub screws before trying to seat the ocular lenses.- Be sure to adjust the eye tubes together, they seem to move in unison, which is a change from my old scope.

This microscope and mount for ~$350 is an adequate replacement for professional units like the Leica that cost over $2000.The motions of the mount are not as smooth as the pro units but the optics are quite excellent. A standard $20 ring light finishes the ensemble. The only piece of the mount I will want to improve is the mounting of the brow rest which doesn't tend to stay stable. So, if you are a pro who is setting stone or engraving all day, buy the pro level equipment. But if you use this microscope on a part time basis, I highly recommend this unit which cost me only $300 on sale.

This is NOT a GRS-level set up. However, considering the GRS version will run you well over $2000, this is an excellent bargain and worth the investment for a beginner/novice jeweler/engraver. The stand is not made of as heavy gauge metal as the expensive alternative, but it works. The only thing I had a problem with was the locking screw for the pole. It is too chunky to allow more than a 25degree swing in either direction because it catches on the arm frame. For engraving, this can be annoying. Plus it prevents you from swinging the arm to the side to clear your workspace for doing other things. However, if what you are doing is more stationary, and you don't use that station for anything else, it's fine. I simply found a "normal" short machine screw to replace the one they give you to get the mobility in the arm I wanted. I expect this will hold up for several years, but I won't be expecting it to last forever.

I've been having more and more trouble with gem setting as I get older -- just being able to SEE the fine details for a bead/bright cut setting is problematic, much less checking slight cuts on a thin gauge prong setting. I tried a variety of options for magnification, but nothing quite fit the bill. I'd long ogled the industry standard microscope (after which this was clearly copied), but at roughly 10x the price, I simply couldn't justify it in today's market.Having used both, this is not QUITE as sturdy as the industry standard. It lacks some features of the new one (including a slightly better focusing mechanism and a slightly better range of motion). But this is a spot on copy of the old version, and works just as well.I was more than a little pleased by this addition to the bench, as it's saved my eyes a hundred times over, as well as letting me do things that were becoming more and more impossible with my eyesight. If you're on the fence about this, don't be. Best purchase I've made in years.

Let me start by saying that a microscope that has a flex arm like this, and that works, for this price, is a win. If you are just starting out and arent 100% sure on if whatever you are going to be using a microscope for and dont want to spend the big money on a leica or something, this is definitely a great option. The instruction book is very limited, like literally only explains how to put the stand together and not very great even at that. There was no instructions for the actual microscope in the box or on vevors site. Luckily if you take a little time it should make sense, or you can look at other scopes and get an idea. One hint, to get the eye pieces to lock on, there is some tiny little screws where the slide in, they blend in, you have to loosen them, slide in the eyepieces, then screw those back in to secure those. Next, the stand is solid, for the price. I wish the part to move the scope into focus was easier to move. Also wish that the rest of the tension arms held tension better. But again for the price, overall I cant complain. And its actual microscope quality is solid. Im using it for engraving and stone setting.

Great addition to my workshop. The arm reach is not as great as the more expensive model but sufficient for my use.The only major drawback is that you have to set it up in front of you, which I can't because I have shelves there. You can't install it sideways (vs. in front of you) because the main rotating ball joint can't rotate 90 degrees because it hits its body.To eliminate the problem, you need a ball head with a longer arm. You can find one on Thingiverse and 3D print it and replace the original join. This makes it perfect for side installation. It's now perfect.Advantages: Does its job perfectlyCons: Eyecup doesn't cover the side of your eye (a minor thing)PSYou need very good lighting to use it.I purchased a 144 LED ring separately (much cheaper than the one they suggested).

Been in the industry for awhile and have used many of these.. this item is by far the worst I’ve seen - don’t waste a purchase. Tried to use it when it came in and was of such poor quality that I couldn’t even see what I was working on. Seller is also very uneducated and down right annoying to deal with. Don’t waste your time on this one!

My first bench microscope so I don’t have a lot to compare it too but seems to work well. Very happy with it for the price, would definitely recommend it.
