First off, everything seems decently made. The padding is a stiff foam but perfectly fine for its purpose. It looks nice enough but it's mostly obscured during play. It does add a little weight to the already small instrument. The violin we have is 1/2 size and is mine from childhood (about 35 years old), though it does sound nice, seems decently made, and was well taken care of. My 6-year-old is able to slide this on and off herself. The edge clamps are padded and as long as they are positioned on a wide axis, the slip resistance is perfectly fine. I'm not too worried about it rubbing off the varnish. Even if it does that's an easy and inexpensive fix.Even with the bolts in as deep as they go, it still seems a little high for her (she is 90 plus percentile in height), despite being at the minimum height offset. One of the bolts screwed in with much more difficulty than the other which was a little nerve-wracking because it felt like it could break it any moment. Fortunately it didn't.We tried the sponge first because that's what I used when I played it at her age. It was always uncomfortable, particularly between my shoulder and chin. She didn't seem particularly fond of the sponge so I figured I would try this. So far so good. It definitely helps it sit more comfortably and she hasn't complained about anything.

this is better than the Kun I was using, and a lot less expensive.

Works really well. Good for beginner violinists!

I’ve tried the expensive version, and you can tell the quality is great. It conforms to your body and keeps the violin very stable. However I have a bit of a shorter neck I believe; it forces my back neck up, giving me shoulder and neck tension. The quality and stability is good enough that I’m torn between trying to find a smaller chinrest in order to avoid returning this.

Perfect fit. Tried many. Non of the others kept the violin from sliding. I can play without having to re-adjust. Which allows me to not have to grip with my thumb.

Thought is was going to be roughly made but was surprised by the quality and the finished matched the violin . Fits snuggly on the body of the violin . Stays put and it's comfortable for regular use
