I have had this unit on my pond for just over a year. I live in michigan so the pond is heated in the winter. The UV unit stopped working some time over the winter. Now that it is warming up here I am out of Warranty and cannot buy any parts to replace it. The UV unit does not have a seal which I did not know. Water got into the unit and the whole unit is broke. The only thing this thing will now do is filter the pond. I had that in my home made filter. This is a junk purchase. I will never use this company again.

I’m very disappointed with this order. This is false advertising and the description isn’t even correct. Unfortunately when you spend the extra money and buy the really expensive model, it doesn’t have a cleaning handle as mentioned in the description and in the directions. (Mentioned multiple places online) I purchased this item specifically because it states “convenience to clean with internal cleaning rod without opening the container”. And again saying “convenient design of the crank handle allows you to clean the sponges without opening the device” This is false and non existent. There is no built in cleaning mechanism like the description states. The only way to clean sponges is to take the entire filter apart and clean them by hand. This is so disappointing especially when paying this much. I have to figure out what to do now after we spent hours setting this up and buying additional parts for this specific setup for our pond. Get it all set up and then only to find out that we didn’t get what we paid for. There is nothing on the filter that will clean sponges. I also want to mention there is no way to see if the UV light is actually on or working. It didn’t mention there was but it would be a benefit to see a speck of the glowing light to know it’s working. I recommend sticking with a name brand and not purchasing online. Such a big hassle.

The light works very well and does not burn out super fast like other filters I have tried before in the past. However the cleaning function is just awful. It does not compress the sponge's enough to get them clean. Your best bet is to just disconnect the hoses and open up the can and hose it by hand. Also this unit DOES NOT come with a pump or hoses. The total cost for me with the big filter, hoses and a pump was closer to $450.00

Worked great for about a year. Cleaning it was a hassle, it was annoying putting back together. The function switch broke fairly quickly. I believe after the 2nd cleaning it broke. Luckily it broke on the filtering setting not the blow out. After it broke the blow out spot driver stopped dripping. Created a lot of moss. Finding a replacement bulb was a bit of a hassle. But i guess worth it in the end. It kept the algae pretty low. Not a ton of water changes or help with chemicals. Worked great throughout the cold winters. Great suction even when covered in leaves. We’ve expanded our pond and unfortunately it’s not strong enough to keep up.

I’m giving this filter a good rating as of now. I installed it 4 days ago . My old pressure filter had broken ( the mechanism that held the sponges in place and the glass tube protecting the UV lIght.)So needless to say my pond was starting to get mucky and green. I read the instructions on this new pressure filter, and took it apart very carefully! So I could remember how to re assemble it. It’s pretty complicated to reassemble the sponge system! Also the piece that separates the bio balls from the sponge assembly is VERY difficult to remove, and seems easy to break. Hence the lower rating on that area. That being said my pond is almost back to it’s beautiful clear condition. I haven’t used the backwash / cleaning option yet. I will update when I’ve used the filter to it’s full capacity.

Bought the medium size filter at first, but returned it for this larger one instead since my koi pond is about 1,300 gallons. The difference this filter has made is amazing. Water is super clear now after just a couple weeks, filter is easy to get going and easy to clean out after that initial waste dump. The group of filter media balls is underneath a barrier inside the tank, so that makes it even easier to clean without getting rid of all the good bacteria.Bought a new pump along with the new flexible tubes and my pond, which I inherited at the house 6 years ago, is in its greatest shape ever. Will be interesting to see how it does over the super hot summer, but I’m confident it’ll hold me down.

When the filter was new, it worked fine. No complaints. It was easy to install and did a good job keeping the pond clean. I did need to use an algaecide but the filter did great. About once per week I would back-flush by rotating the valve knob to the clean position. This required a good deal of strength and it never "clicked" into a position as the manual stated. About a month after using it, I noticed that the pond seemed to be losing water and found the back-flush discharge hose had water trickling out even when in the normal position. A few weeks later when I went to do the weekly back-flush the knob turned about half way and suddenly turned very easily. The problem was that the knob was between the cleaning and normal position so that I was unable to stop the water from draining out. After taking apart the filter I found that the cleaning knob was made of plastic and used a metal shaft with pins to move the valve. There were two plastic ears that had been sheared off. This is a terrible design and I'm amazed that it lasted as long as it did. It is a very poorly design to use thin plastic with metal pins on something that requires a good deal of effort to rotate. For the money I spent on this filter, I expected it to last at least a year or two. I was able to manually put the rubber stop valve back into place to prevent a back-flush leak but I can no longer back flush the system.

We have had an all season Koi pond for over 30 years. Since we are in southern Canada the pond does freeze over each winter so it has a region that goes 2.5 meters below grade where the fish stay over the winter. As a result although the pond is not huge it is not a small little system either. It is a permanent emplacement. All this to say we have struggled with keep the pond clean and clear. We do have build-in settling/filtering ponds within a cascade feature but this can and does get over run especially early in the season. We have tried a number of canister type filters and none have been very good - a few have worked well but required constant cleaning (requiring disassembly of the unit). This is the first unit we have found that does not get overwhelmed. We only have to 'clean' it once a month or so - and cleaning this unit means stopping the pump, turning a dial, opening a valve, and restarting the pump. All of the 'waste' gets pumped directly into flower beds around the pond.Truly an excellent unit - best money we have spent on the pond other than the initial build..

My filter worked well at first but the discharge knob broke the 2nd time I used it and the uv light stopped working the 2nd month in. Customer support never got back to me.
