For those that say it's loud, it may be because you have no stones or resistance attached to the outlet at that time. If you just plug it in to test it, it is loud, but with the stones attached and regulated, the hum is much less. It does get warm to the touch over time, but I do have a small computer fan gently blowing over it. I found that if you add a hose of the appropriate diameter to fit over the intake tube and about 12" in length, the hum is considerably less. The hose acts as a muffler on the intake side. It's now quieter than the 4 outlet air pump I had with WAY more air.

Product arrived in a totaled Amazon box, as they no longer back with air pockets.But the pump survived unscathed, even though clearly dropped. I also dropped it from 6ft high onto a hard floor when it toppled off the shelf while running, and it didn't phase it.Things to note: I wanted to modify this to use as a gentle vacuum pump. I was pleasantly surprised to find the plastic intake cover had a tight sealing rubber o-ring. No modification necessary, this is a mild vacuum pump out of the box.I plugged it in and it ran immediately, no power switch. Reliable and cheap.After placing a finger over the end, I determined it was a very low pressure pump, as the manufacturer stated.So I rigged up a suction tube to lift water out of a container on the floor. Placed the pump on the counter, and flipped it on. It immediately lifted the water and sucked in into the pump, and it shut down abruptly. Oh no! I ruined it...Nope. Poured water out of the pump itself, plugged it in another outlet and confirmed it worked just fine. It was the GFCI breaker that tripped. (They work too!).I then unplugged it and tipped it. More water came out! I had failed to dry it out completely from before! This pump; you almost cant destroy it!Now to test the vacuum by lifting water... Placed on a high shelf with a 10ft clear suction tube to the floor, over 6' of elevation. The pump pulled the water right to 46.5", subtract 2.75" remaining in the container for 43.5" wc (water column) of vacuum.This equates to 1.57psi, or 226lb/ft.~ 10.8kPa of vacuum. (1,1m wc).This is a very good little pump. This was the basic lowly 15w. Higher power may produce better performance. I'm happy with this.4.5 stars instead of 5, because they state it requires a 1/4" ID tube. This is 6.35mm, to the actual 8.0mm outlet diameter. You need a tube between 7-8mm to fit easily.Also, the suction input is 8.9mm; 10.25mm over the barbs. So you need a 9-10mm tube here.Blow: 9/32" to 5/16"Vac: 5/16" to 3/8"Get the 5/16" heat the tube to fit.

Bought this to use as an air assist for laser cutting and it work great for that.It is a bit noisy when it is sitting on a surface so I have it hanging off the edge of my table and the noise is significantly reduced.

So my 4 valve air pump was barely working and I needed a replacement fast!I looked over the specs and feedback on several pumps and went with this one. So glad I did!Firstly, it is a mini air compressor, so oxiginating several resiviors (4 at the moment) is child's play to this beast.Allot of people said it is very loud, not so much. Mine is in the basement and cannot be heard upstairs at all.More than enough power for the 6 adjustable stainless steel valves, water is virtually boiling (not from heat lol) from the air delivery to the 4" stones currently in use. Could easily support larger air stones.The unit itself does get alittle warm, but not overly so considering the amount of force it creates.This pump is a definite must have for any hydroponic set-up!Arrived 2 days ahead of estimated delivery and in perfect condition, so A++ for that 😉As far as the cost, that was a no brainer. Only a few dollars more than I paid for my other 4 valve pump, which didn't have near the power, died and only supported 2 buckets if run with a t (2 valves reduced to 1).All 6 stainless valves included with this unit can be adjusted very easily, which is nice because it really is that powerful!Heavy duty commercial quality!

This pump is very efficient, powerful and loud. I run a small aquaponics system with it. I hung it on bungee cords from the roof to limit vibration and it has been perfect for over a year. It pumps vast amounts of air and is self regulating so it only works hard when it needs to. Do not buy this for a living room aquarium as that is not what this pump is for. This pump would run 30 aquariums easily, maybe more. I run 4x12inch airstones that are over 2ft deep and it will violently froth the water without breaking a sweat. As you restrict the airflow, it turns itself down to conserve power (and noise) to match the load. It is very well made and I have not had to clean it yet. My room is a cool 60F and the pump is quite warm to the touch but not hot.

Built a homemade aeroponics system for growing plants and for rooting cuttings. It works great and produces lots of bubbles with the 6 air channels. It is in my garage so the noise does not bother me much, however you may consider this factor if it's positioned in your living area.I am assuming it could also be used for hydroponics systems
