So, the good things I can say about this are that it gets warm and I really like the lip at the bottom so the jar of starter sits sort of down inside it a little as opposed to simply being set on a flat surface. Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends.The description for this product says that it has 1 degree precision thermostat. This is not true. The temperature adjusts in increments of 3 degrees. So, I have a choice of 70, 73, 76, 79, 82, etc. I'm used to setting my warmer at 80 degrees and that's not an option on this one. Now, that's not a deal breaker. I can adjust down a degree or up two degrees if I need to. But I expect a product to work as described.The second big flaw - and this is the deal breaker for me - is that it does not stay on. According to the instruction manual, you have a choice regarding how long it will stay on and if you want it to not turn off you hold the timer button down until 000 appears. The manual says that this prevents the unit from turning off. It does not. I can't tell you how long it does stay on, just that I regularly walked in the kitchen to find it powered off. This problem makes the product completely useless to me. I messed with it for 3 days and then gave up and went back to my old warmer. This is going to the local thrift store.

I am SO excited to have this! I just ordered the dome top to complete the process and can't wait to put it in action! I used it this morning on it's own and it worked well, but because my kitchen stays cold I need something to provide stability. I am still quite new to working with Sourdough and every little bit helps...and tool.This came well packaged, was easy to figure out and will be well used.

Nice idea and nice looking device, but at the highest setting, it's barely warmer than normal (~72 deg) room temperature on the heated surface. The small warmer I use for coffee on my desk is much warmer, so I'll continue to use the oven with the light on for my purposes.
