Adjust the Eyecups

The Eyecups on Bantam HD twist up and down allowing anyone to obtain a full field of view and comfortable viewing despite differences in facial structure and for use with or without glasses. When not using glasses, generally the Eyecups will be fully extended. When using glasses, generally the Eyecups will be fully collapsed.

Adjust the Interpupillary Distance

The interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the centers of the left and the right eye pupils. Match the IPD of your eyes to the binocular so that you see a single image free of edge distortion.

Rotate the binocular barrels inward or outward to line your eyes up with ocular lenses.

Focus the Binocular

1. Adjust the Center Focus –Start by closing your right eye or covering the right Objective Lens with your hand. Look through the left barrel and adjust the Center Focus Wheel until the image is in focus. Leave the Center Focus in position as you adjust the Diopter.

2. Adjust the Diopter – Start by closing your left eye or covering the left Objective Lens with your hand. Look through the right barrel and adjust the Diopter until the image is in focus. Make note of the position of the Diopter setting in case you need to set it again. From this point on, you will only need to use the Center Focus Wheel.

I'm 36 years old. I bought these to keep handy instead of my larger, heavier, more expensive pair. Vortex may have intended the Bantam 6.5x32 for youth but they're great for adults too.PROS: They produce a bright, clear image in average conditions, and have a nice field of view. The focus knob is very smooth; the diopter adjustment is acceptable. Construction is lightweight but solid. Accessories such as case, straps, and rainguard are quite good. And a lifetime warranty.CONS: Objects come into focus slowly so it can be a little difficult to find the ideal setting. The eye cups adjust to only two positions, and don't exactly have a premium feel. The objective lens caps are not the most secure. All flaws I can live with given the price. It's kind of amazing that you can have binoculars this good for $70. Before writing this review I took this humble device outside, looked up at the night sky and clearly saw the moons of Jupiter. Life is but a moment in this world of wonder. Don't let anything obscure that from your view.

Let me be clear at the onset: I only use binoculars for stargazing so I have no idea if these are good for hunting or birdwatching. I own a pair of the Vortex Optics Viper HD Roof Prism Binoculars 8x42 and I love them but they are packed in my astronomy kit and kind of heavy for extended use. I wanted a light pair of binoculars for every night use that I could just store in a living room side table and grab and go. After extensive research I settled on the Vortex Bantam. Sure they are marketed for kids and I think these are great for kids use but as an adult I am very happy. Like my other Vortex pair the optics are top shelf and the mechanical focus is smooth as silk. Eye cups adjust for perfect relief. Really surprised how good they are for 20% of the price of my other pair. Sure I sacrifice a little magnification but I can still see all the fun sky objects I love to scan on the regular (Orion Nebula, Sirius, Capella, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Pleiades, Andromeda, Aldebaran, Cassiopeia, and of course the solar system planets). These were exactly what I was looking for great set.

Really impressed with the quality at this price point. Great glass, light weight, great warranty. The only complaint I would have is that it could use a bit more eye relief but they are intended for smaller children so it's expected. These were intended to be the jockey box set but they will probably get a lot more use than that.

I bought this for my 11 year old son, who is still rather small. I use the Vortex Viper HD 8x42, and have been very pleased with the brand. I initially bought the Vortex Raptor 8.5x32, but these proved too large for his small hands so I passed them on to another family member. The new Bantams are the PERFECT size for smaller hands, but feel great even in mine! Very easy to adjust and focus. I am especially pleased that they included covers/rainguards for both the objective lenses and the eyepieces. The small case is absolutely fine, very nice quality, actually, given the low price. But, where I was most impressed was with image quality. Keep in mind, I am used to the $500 Viper HDs, but when I looked at the spines of books across the living room in low light levels, I was quite surprised at the clarity! Outdoors was more of the same. Really crisp, bright images, especially given the 32mm objectives. And the 6.5x oculars give enough magnification while providing a wider field of view, making it easier for youth/beginners to locate their viewing subject. Now, the one caveat: the near focusing distance is a minimum of about 12' (around 3.5 meters). I suspect the physics of the size/lenses limited how close this could be, but it's disappointing given how much my son (and I suspect other young nature lovers) enjoys looking at bugs, reptiles, amphibians, etc..... I.e., subjects that tend to be closer than 10' when viewing them. For this reason, I plan to upgrade him to different Vortex binos as soon as he's ready for a heavier pair. But, in summary, these are simply great for the money. If you're looking for a great first pair of binoculars for a small child, especially for viewing birds and wildlife on hikes, this is really a stellar value. The price is unbeatable. The unconditional warranty is top in its class (free repairs or replacement even with no receipt or proof of purchase or box, etc); no need to worry about drops/spills/falls/accidents. The image quality is better than any other pair of youth binos we've tried. The feel in the hand and ease of focusing is great.Highly recommend these binoculars!

These are nice little binoculars. I always wondered what I would lose if I went as low as 6.5x. As I imagined, not much. Comparing my 8x diamondbacks with these, it's honestly difficult to tell that the magnification is different. They have abundant eye-relief for those who wear glasses. They seem to be nice and sturdy too. However, the main drawback is the minimum focus difference. Although the specs say 3.7 m, mine are closer to 4 m. This would make them impracticle for following a warbler close by or for observing reptiles and anphibians.

Let’s light in when it’s dark, clear view and picture, light weight, good grip, easy to handle, worth the price, just an overall good glass and bino. Cant go wrong.

Really pleasantly surprised with the glass quality and rugged feel that these have, especially for the price. The size, eyepiece separation, and weight are just perfect for kids and petite adults. I'm a grown man and they're uncomfortable for me to use, I could not glass with them for more than a few moments in a pinch, but they're not for me. My daughter loves them and they don't weigh her down. The lower magnification and generous FOV makes them effortless for her inexperienced eyes to go from naked-eye spotting to locating her target in the binos. Another well thought out and practically designed product from Vortex.
