These are by far the best (Roxanne's Quilter's Choice 4-pack of white chalk pencils). I have tried many, many markers, pens and pencils over the past year and all came up short. I believe I have found the one I will continue to use for quilting -- Have gone through the testing process and have determined: it does. wash. out.; will not completely smudge away during quilting a 24" block; it will sharpen in an electric pencil sharpener without cracking and breaking the chalk; it will work while using plastic template stencils -- sharpened to a pointy tip; it will "brush out" of fabric if by chance you cannot wash item; I even got brave and drew on my cotton blend shirt and jeans -- no problem. And, no, I have not been compensated for my review. I'm just so happy with this product, (it's the little things that make me happy, I know) that I am going to re-order just so I don't run out and can't find any more due to being "not available" during a pandemic that just won't go away.

Pencils marked well on the dark fabrics of my quilt top. The lead was firm, but easy to apply. One of the four pencils must have broken chalk as it does not mark without the lead breaking. The other 3 have worked fine. I do have to sharpen them often, but worth the accurate marks they make. I used them with a stencil pattern.

I have tried other white markers on fabric. Up to now none if them worked very well. These actually leave a mark you can see. I had tried one of these markers and it worked so well I purchased this package of four.

I was so excited to use these pencils, and they sharpened nicely to a great point. However, when I used the silver on a cream fabric, I could not get the lightly drawn lines completely out. I would use these on projects where it wouldn't matter if the pencil likes stay visible. In my case, it was an area where it showed. I tried brushing it out then used a damp clothe. Most came off, but not all of it.

These pencils are the best marking tool for quilting. Rarely find a white chalk marker you can see on moderate to dark fabric and easy to remove. I wish you could get more in a package. I’ve recommended these twice to my quilting friends

These are good chalk pencils but not easy to get a thin line even with a sharp pencil sharpener. But good and useful nevertheless.

LOVE these! Perfect for my hand-quilting design needs - they sharpen to a hard point in my pencil sharpener, yet are soft enough to glide on fabric. Markings brush right off or wash right out. So happy I found these.

Worked for marking my dark quilt, but too soft,would not hold an edge past 1 block, and frequent sharpening g quickly used up 3 marking a twinquilt, they eased well with washing g
