I had been looking for a stove top cover to put on after using it while it was still hot (obviously not while on) to protect in case the cat jumped up on the stove so it wouldn't get burned. We have a flat surface stove top (ceramic burners I think). All of the items marketed as a cover did not have stellar reviews, so I started looking for fire proof blankets. That's how I came across this welding blanket. I figured if it could withstand hot metal slag then a hot stove top should be no problem. This things works perfectly for my needs! It's a fairly large blanket, so I leave it folded up, in half and then half again, so it's 4 layers thick. We've used it several times now. I tested the temperature this last time, so I could include some details.Finished using the burner (had been on med high for at least 20+ minutes), turned it off, took the pan off and then placed the welding blanket on the stove top. After taking care of the pan, I measured the temps of the stove. The burner measured at 397° but on top of the blanket measured just 88°. Perfect!!The blanket had no effect or makings on it from sitting in the burner, so it's withstanding the temp just fine. So, I did not use this item for welding, but for heat protection of a hot stove, it works perfectly.

Needed to do some work on an old house and wanted to use copper instead of PEX. I needed to sweat joint in tight areas close to old wood. This worked great !!!

We bought this to catch cinders that could fall out of the woodstove on our NEW LVP floor. So far, so good. No major spills though. 😊

Good product to help prevent injury on a hot woodstove top for unsuspecting kittens.

Worked good on keeping the smoker warm in cold weather. Material is nice, doesn’t give off fiberglass ouchies.

This product was damaging to my exhaust pipes in a sense that they turned black and had a melted residue on them. Says it's rated to 1800. That is 100 percent wrong. Do not buy this product.

Haven't used it much or long, but it seems to work.

Worked as expected. Would definitely recommend. Got very red while I was soldering but did not burn the wall. Might need to put tin foil behind it if you're soldering on wood.

I bought two of these 27" x 12" fireproof felt type mats for a benchtop welding plate I was making. The packages arrived very quickly after ordering in perfect condition. I placed them on a 2 foot x 2 foot piece of 1/2-inch thick MDF and then placed the 2 foot x 2 foot piece of 22 gauge steel sheet on top. This combo worked perfectly to let me low temp weld aluminum extrusion square tubing together without burning my workbench. The pads are thicker than I thought they would be from the photos.
