I have several different brands at all potential leak locations in the house. Under each sink, behind each toilet, near washing machine, dishwasher, and refrigerator ice maker. What makes these great is the fact that they are easy to open to replace the 9v battery. They simply unscrew the top and bottom. They are loud and the batteries last over 2 years, but I change them out yearly. I have replaced all my other brands with these. A small cost to prevent major water damage issues, especially on wood frame homes or homes with wood floors or carpet. Water leak detectors have saved me on at least 3 occasions from under sink leaks that my wife and I caught early. Don't be cheap and wait till you have damage. These could save you thousands of dollars in repairs and headaches.

This product has saved us from water damage 2 times. It is very "touchy" The alarm is loud and can be switched off easily. Extremely reliable. Everyone should have them in their home.

My dog was very sneaky and never hiked his leg when I was around. With these little things the alarm would go off while he was in the act, so I could actually catch him doing his deed. Now, he takes his business outside.Oh, yes, I put one under my water heater too.

Not enough decibels, especially if you put one in your attic or basement, it is highly likely that the beep noise will go unnoticed. I decided to use it, sine we use the basement regularly..

We had 4 year old plank floors in our home, when our refrigerator's ice maker leaked. The water went under the planks, without our knowing it, resulting in our whole house having to be re-floored. One of these little devices would have saved us so much money and inconvenience. We now have a unit under every sink, lavatory and appliance that's attached to water, in our home and rental property. The alarm under the kitchen sink in our rental recently went off at 4 a.m.. Thank goodness, it saved us from having a repeat of the same problem. We now tell everyone that they should get these alarms.

As electronic guru I wanted to know what is inside and if it is well designed in order to trust the detector for this important job. So, I opened the box. I can confirm that there is no battery consumption until the water is present to the metal sensors and if you install a good quality battery it will last for many years. The 3 sensors are placed in a triangle and the water need to be present between two of them (only the one that are closer to each other). This expects a water spot larger than 2 inches in diameter and high enough to reach the sensor, 2 mm above the bottom surface. It is done to not touch somehow the conductive floor that will falsely activate the alarm but it requires much more water around and it is possible the alarm to be activated too late. The sound is loud enough to be heard everywhere in a large house. Good product at good price. I will buy more knowing how to modify them to be more efficient.

Fast & Easy install!! Insert a 9-volt battery (carefully no wires are underneath battery) and close the unit. Test by putting senor on a slightly wet plate.....if the alarm sounds, the unit works fine. Got 4 units and placed in various locations where it would alert us whenever a leak happens. Alarm is audible and loud enough to wake you if its on the same level as you are. Happy with product.

I don't usually do a review on anything I buy. I will make an exception on this as it is such a valuable tool for the home or anywhere water is present. What I want to say is that some people say the alarm is not loud enough. It is very loud to hurt ears if you are close. It is certainly loud enough to hear anywhere in my house. Upstairs or downstairs. The thing is, what happens is , if a person does not screw the lid on properly the plastic will cover the alarm and it will then be much quieter . There is a small circular hole in the lid that must line up with the alarm. If you get the wires for the battery crooked then the lid will not screw down all the way and the plastic does not line up making the alarm much more quiet . I love these alarms and will be buying 4 more to put near other water sources .

I have a number of spots that I am concerned with water leakage; under the tub, by the water heater and pump, under the kitchen sink. I had similar ones in a previous house and these look identical. I tested them and they are loud enough but not as loud as the smoke detector. Good thing is, our insurance company asked if we had these and offered a small discount if we got them.
