I can only reinforce the comments of others, excellent pitter, works quickly and removes the stone and stem cleanly, does not take a chuck of pulp with it.Very productive and clean to use, no juice splatter etc. I mainly use it on sweet cherries, i find no problem with the size of cherries, they just fit in when the device is fully open, a clean press and out pops the stone and stem. Outstanding.Excellent tool, i was about to buy a second one, but see the price has tripled since i bought one, so i will wait.

It's durable, works well, and you don't even have to "Line up" the cherry other than making sure the middle of it is in the circle. You can put the cherry in sideways, on an angle, straight up and down, etc.. and it will work the same (so don't waste your time carefully aligning the cherry).I went through 6 pounds of cherries in about 40 minutes with this thing. I found this to be the quickest method: 1. put the cherry in (however you grab it). 2. squeeze (and hold) 3. pull the pit off the bottom if necessary and pull the stem out 4. release squeeze, done.Pro-tip: wear a shirt you don't care about.Also, during my marathon session, the tool stained the palm of my hand black (probably related to cherry acid interacting with the aluminum). Residual black is still there, one day later, after having washed my hands well at least 8 times (plus a bath) since.

What makes this the best is the slot in the holding cup of the pitter. This is very well thought out. You can hold the cherry by the stem and by sliding the stem through the slot place and hold the cherry in the cup. Then when you squeeze the handle, the cherry is pitted and often the pit stays on the stem which can be easily discarded. A second well thought out feature is the minimum surface area of the arm which goes through the cherry during the pitting process. This leads to VERY little waste given that the hole made through the cheery is minimal. I'm very happy with this product. It is very well engineered!!

I have a pie (sour) cherry tree that produces buckets of fruit every year. Most cherry pitters work well for large (sweet) cherries, but the plunger of those units often doesn't hit pie cherries in the right spot. This pitter is just the ticket. I hold the cherry by the stem, slip it into the pitter through the slot in the base, then snick...the pit says with the stem and I let the cherry drop into a bowl (with a little vitamin C to prevent browning). 100% pit removal on the first try for ~5 lbs of cherries today.Pros:- Sized perfectly for small cherries (pie/sour cherries).- The entire plunger has a + shaped cross section: this pushes out the pit without punching out a big plug of fruit. Some other pitters have a curved cylindrical plunger with a + end that tends to pop out a chunk of cherry into the waste bowl.- The slotted tab above the base allows the plunger to retract, releasing the cherry after pitting (dropping the fruit into a bowl).- Nice casting with a non-stick coating (easy to clean by hand).- Lacks the annoying locking mechanism featured in many pitters. (A small plastic collar is included if you like to keep the pitter closed during storage.)- The price can't be beat.Cons:- Might be a bit small for large, sweet cherries.

Brilliant. Bought it for olives as I keep buying the wrong ones by mistake. Now I don't have to worry! I can pit a pizza's worth in seconds :) Seems perfectly dishwasher-proof so far. Comes with a transparent plastic band to keep it shut - I put this on whenever I put it away because space is tight. Haven't yet worked out if it's faster to use it upside-down or right-way-up.Important: this device does not depend on any blades to penetrate the flesh of whatever is being pitted, so is unlikely to blunt. The pitting spike is as if the grooves on a cross-haired screwdriver were extended all down the shaft, and then the tip removed to leave four pointed corners surrounding a concavity. I do not believe I shall ever need to buy a replacement for this item. I shall definitely consider buying these in bulk if I ever go into the stoning business.

Small, but strong enough from aluminium. I would not dare to put it in the dishwasher though.

I received this product yesterday. I love this cherry picker. Well made, not plastic but metal. Used it yesterday and today, and worked perfectly. Highly recommend this purchase even though a bit more expensive than others. Martha Stewart recommended this product, and I believe she is correct when she says it can be handed down to generations because it is well made.
