St Joseph Statue

The tradition of burying a statue of Saint Joseph to help sell a house is one that has become relatively widespread in the United States and elsewhere. This tradition is tied to St. Joseph's reputation as the patron saint of the home and families. Here's an overview of the tradition:

  1. Who is Saint Joseph? St. Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus Christ and husband to the Virgin Mary. In Christian tradition, he's often seen as a protector and provider for families. Over time, this protective role expanded to make him the patron saint of the home and, by extension, home sales.
  2. How did the tradition start? The origins of this custom aren't precisely known, but there are a few theories. One belief is that it began with European nuns in the Middle Ages who would bury a medal bearing the image of St. Joseph while praying for his intercession to provide them land for convents. Over time, this evolved into the modern practice of burying statues instead of medals.
  3. How is the statue used? Homeowners or real estate agents who want to sell a house will bury a small statue of St. Joseph in the yard of the home. The traditional method is to bury him upside down, facing the home. Some also believe that the statue should be buried near the "For Sale" sign, while others say it should be closer to the road to attract a buyer.
  4. After the Sale: Once the house is sold, it's customary to dig up the statue and give it a place of honor in your new home, as a way of thanking St. Joseph for his help.
  5. Why upside down? There are various interpretations. One common belief is that by burying the statue upside down, St. Joseph will be motivated to "turn things around" and bring a buyer for the home quickly. Another theory is that it symbolizes Joseph's urgent need to sell the house, pushing him to work harder on your behalf.

Whether approached as a fun custom or a deeply held belief, the St. Joseph statue tradition reflects the blend of faith, hope, and rituals that often surround major life events like selling a home. Westmon Works St Joseph Home Seller Kits have everything you need to carry out this tradition.

The figurine is supposed to give hope to those that will be selling their homes. It is small to easy to handle and very sturdy resin so it won’t break. Great value for those of faith!!!

In this economic conundrum we have been living in for awhile...Unless you can time travel to figure out how long your house will be on the market, Why not get some extra help from St.Joesph? If you believe in it ... its totally worth it...if you dont believe in it... you will become a believer... it's worth it!Our house sat on the market for 2 months with 3 showings total. Decided to give St.Joseph a go at it (it doesn't hurt anything...so why NOT?!) And I kid you not... 3 days after buying him, upside down, and saying the prayer (that is on the enclosed card)... we had an offer and we closed in less than 30 days!Did St.Joseph perform? (You tell me...could all just be a HUGE coincidence or maybe there is something to this quality, easy to use Saint!)Perfect for gift giving!I even bought our realtor 2, for him to keep on hand if there is a seller he comes across that wants to try it for themselves!

Our house went on the market in August. Sat quiet for months. It was going to be taken off on November 15th. On November 8th, I buried St. Joseph like the instructions said and waited. The following week leading up to the 15th we had more showings that we'd had the rest of the time combined. Our house closes on the 16th and we will finally be moving on!

I sent this to my sister to help her sell her house, and overall I thought he was a decent buy for the price. The statue is not super detailed and I've heard mixed reviews on whether the prayer card included was correct, but I don't think the words matter as much as the intention behind them. Her house has not sold yet, but hopefully soon :)

I’m a non believer but our house was listed for over 2 weeks with no action. My wife bought it and followed the instructions. Our house sold with no conditions 2 days later. That’s all I can say
