I've installed lots of shelves in my time, mostly of plywood that I've painted white. These strips are the finishing touch which make the edges look finished and professional. And it's very easy to do!!

I was skeptical but it works as promised. Iron on. It’s just a hair over sided as described. Trimming didn’t go well on my first shelf but I was able to fold it over the edge for the others and I’m pleased with the result.

This white melamine edge banding material by FAKILO is great for edging plywood, melamine board or any other edge surface 20mm thick or less. It is thin enough that it can be applied to curved edges down to about a 1/2" radius but anything rounder and you risk it cracking or tearing on the curve. The finished surface has minimal texture unlike some others that I've used in the past but this is practically smooth. There's no instructions or tips with this product so you'll have to do your own research for application options. The iron method is fairly simple and most melamine banding calls for the highest or "cotton" setting on your iron.The melamine banding itself measures about 0.3mm thick with an additional 0.2mm of hot melt adhesive so it only takes seconds for the glue to melt once your hot iron is applied. I also find it best to cut a slightly oversized length as it is very easy to trim with a sharp knife or chisel after it has been totally glued down and allowed to cool. Unlike the recommended 10mins, I found it was ready to trim within a few minutes but ambient temperature may affect your times. This worked out great for edging a resin artwork frame that I fabricated but it can take a little practice to get it 100% gap free on the corners. The iron or other tools can leave marks on the surface during application but Isopropyl alcohol does a good job of cleaning it up and looking like new again. It's not the most durable edging material option but it does work as advertised. At $13.99 for a 50' roll you get a fair amount to work with but there are better prices per foot out there. 4 stars.

So easy so quick to install, my only complaint I guess would be that there was a small space and I ignored it thinking it wasn’t a big deal and then it expanded as I was ironing and I didn’t notice until I was finished so it sticks out like a sore thumb and I’ll probably just cave and redo it but I wish it wasn’t there and I wish it didn’t come like that

I got distracted while putting together my IKEA Billy bookshelf and installed the top shelf backwards, so the ugly unfinished side was showing. Less than 5 minutes with an iron and now my mistake is perfectly concealed! The white color matches really well and the whole process was quick and easy. I'll be keeping the rest of the roll around in case I ever make that mistake again!
