Canon's lens mounts leave a lot to be desired, but Wimberley manages to engineer a very sturdy and non-rotating supplemental (I wouldn't call it a replacement) foot for the ring here. I've been using these for quite a while, and haven't had to tighten the screw at all, and have had no shifting whatsoever.

Quality, but still expensive for a plate.

There are two types of camera people. Those who always buy the best, no matter the cost. Those who try to find the lowest cost versus performance. For anything to do with the tripod and tripod plates, I usually reach for the best, becuase there is nothing worse than seeing your equipment fall off a tripod due to failure. Wimberly plates are always good and machined well. This plate is no exception. It says it is a replacement lens foot, but it is actually a plate you add to bottom of the Canon Lens foot, to provide the dovetail you need. Why not use a generic lens plate? Because this one is more secure and the holes are aligned much better than those cheap knock-off brands. Also, the Wimberley plates comes with all the hardware needed, included stop screws and wrenches, and are engineered to meet many needs. For Tripod plates, feet, and other peice that go on the tripod, you can't beat Wimberley for reliability.

This is my fourth Wimberly replacement foot purchased. They are machined well and are made of quality materials. They fit well and are tough.
