No issues so far. This has been a usual winter for the Ohio snow belt and this may kept up with the inches that fell. We use it from our doorway to our hot tub and it makes a wonderful path.

This product did not work. It barely got warm and I left it outdoors for at least an jour and it did nothing. Do not recommend.

If you've bought a germination heater mat for growing seedlings, you know what I'm talking about, it's the exact same material. This really isn't a great walking mat, and I believe the title reflects that. It is good for melting areas, and might actually be good to place underneath a rubber walking mat (haven't tried this yet). Placing this on top of fresh snow or ice, absolutely avoid walking on it, the snow/ice is extremely slippery underneath this mat, and the mat has no grip to avoid moving all over the place with you on top of it. Eventually it does a pretty good job of removing the snow/ice that was under it, and it is much safer to walk on at this point, but really it is not designed for that. My Summerstep mats are much tougher built, and have very good grip to avoid sliding around (heavy rubber mats). Overall I believe this is a good ice melting mat, as described, and performs as expected. It's fairly lightweight and easy to move around if you want to clear multiple areas.

This is just a giant version of a seedling mat, and probably shouldn't be used to melt ice and snow. As stated, you really shouldn't walk on it, and I could not find any safety ratings on it, just like others said. Does it melt ice and snow? Yes it does. So will the electric blanket on your bed, but that doesn't mean you should do it. Way too expensive for what it is.

Honestly, this thing was not only useless but a hazard waiting for its victim. It melted some of the snow; however, it made the surface extremely slippery in frigid conditions. In fact, it’s quite dangerous if you slip and trip on the cord while falling. I don’t recommend.

We bought this to put down to help with the wheelchair ramp for my niece and down the driveway to the van! This works perfect!! We had 8+ inches of snow and this kept it cleaned off the ramp and melted what we couldn’t get shoveled off the driveway. It is slippery if you walk on it so I wouldn’t suggest leaving it down to walk on. We will be buying another in the near future

This MOPKIUTR heated snow melting mat does not look like something that costs almost $50. The cord has no ratings or markings stating what size wire gauge is used. There is very little information on the sticker under the mat. After one use the wording is starting to rub off. I can not find a UL or ETL safety rating on the mat either. They state in the description that the mat is non-slip which is not true. Once this has snow on it you can slip and fall just walking on it. My dog went out the door quickly to go to the bathroom. I had just put the MOPKIUTR heated snow melting mat on the deck and covered it with snow. He hit the mat and slipped landing on his side. When I stepped on the mat to assist my dog I slipped as well. Description also states (Avoid stepping on it too many times if possible) and I can see why. Not only can you slip but the the copper wiring will get damaged since the mat is thin and not rigid. I have seen other heated mats that are made of thicker material and have a tread pattern on them which may help with not slipping as easily. As you can see in the second picture it took two hours to melt most of the snow off the mat. Using my Watt tester it said that this mat pulls 218 watts, using my thermal gun I got varied readings of 75-102 degrees across the mat. When I rolled the mat up starting at the cord end I got a large air pocket when I got to the other end. I pressed the mat down on a table and the air slowly escaped. There is either a bad seal somewhere or the cord is not sealed properly where it goes into the mat. While this heated mat does work it seems fragile and dangerous. I will use this mat on my large SUV windshield if we have a sleet event or an ice storm. I don't trust leaving it on the ground plus I would have to put up a warning sign so no one would step on it and possibly fall.

Like the others have mentioned, I'd be a little weary about leaving this out for passive ice melting given the build quality of the mat and the questionable nature of leaving something plugged into an outlet outside. That said, I was able to actively melt ice/snow on my sidewalk after a storm, leaving nothing but water on the concrete so I could apply salt and not worry about slipping on a thin layer of ice. It did so in less than 5 minutes, and I could then move the mat to another section of sidewalk. The temperature was 35F (just above freezing) outside, so I didn't have to deal with the water refreezing during my test. I'd probably still want to shovel the snow so that there's less than an inch left for the mat to effectively melt it.
