Here’s the good.I wish I could give this a solid 5 star, I really like this thing. It makes me the grill king to my family by never overcooking anything, ever. Goodbye dry meat.I’ve had this thermometer for about 16 months now, I use every week, for hours at a time with my pellet grill. The display is clear and easy to read, numbers are large, and it is easy to use and program. Battery life in both units is great. I am still on the first set of batteries (16 months of use so far).I tested several meat thermometers before picking this one. All had the same features but 1. What sealed the deal for me with this one was the alarm. The alarm will shut off automatically if the problem is corrected. For example, if I am monitoring the grill temperature and have the low limit set on the thermometer, then I open the grill to add more meat, the grill temperature will drop, alarm will go off, I close the grill, temperature rises above the set low limit, then alarm shuts off automatically. This is exactly how I want it to work. All of the others I tested did not do this. On the others, the alarm would have to be manually cancelled every time, even if the temperature stabilized. Both units are durable. Kids have knocked them both off the counter, both keep on working the same as new. They have been in light rain, no problems.I like the stands on both units, no stability problems. The unit that connects to the probes has a nice convertible stand/hook that hooks perfectly on the hopper (just under the lid) of my grill.Temperature readings were the same when tested all 4 probes at the same time. They would read the same temp of my other thermometer. There is a few second delay (3-5 seconds) between the temperature reading large receiver vs the small sending unit. Does not bother me.**update**I contacted the seller and asked how I could get replacement probes. They quickly responded and sent them to me, at no charge. Thanks!**The bad-There are only 4 drawbacks (the 4 probes) about this purchase. it’s the probe life expectancy. To start, the probes have been very accurate and have been easy to install and remove. All of the probes eventually failed. I only carefully hand washed the probes and they were never in extreme heat. I’m always cooking low and slow. The first probe failed about 4 months after i bought the thermometer. It didn’t bother me much, until 2 months later, another one failed. They both had the same problem, I remove them from my kitchen drawer, plug them in the sending unit and they read like 200+ degrees then continue to climb, when it should say like 72 degrees. Then about 6 months later the 3rd one fails - same problem as the other 2.Then tonight, the 4th one failed. Same problem as the other 3. High temp for no reason.I’ll buy new probes for this bc I like the sending/receiving units. I feel the probes should have lasted longer tho. I would buy again just for the alarm feature like I mentioned above.

I used this to measure my oil temperature on my Dutch oven to fry donuts. It did a great job. I like that you can keep your temperature in the thermometer for next time. Instructions were easy to understand. I somehow missed seeing the battery that came with it and used my own. At least I have one for next time.

This gadget is wonderful, long range, accurate and has an alarm. BUT!!! And it’s a big one.I’ve had this for 8 months and two of the probes don’t work. One is 50* colder than what it should be and the other is dead.Should probably have given it 3 stars but I’ll see if I get replacements.I would hope that they would be replaced. We will see.

Tested this today, if your looking for a high end looking meat thermometer, well this isn't it. But if your looking a fully functional meat thermometer without needing a loan yeah this fits the bill. Did some testing of the unit today just to make sure it worked up to my expectations and I was pleasantly pleased. While I did not do a overly thorough test I did check to see if it would at least transmit from one end of the house to the other and no problem. All 4 temp probes read the same temp (68) so that was good to see. Checked for accuracy (212) and 3 of the four were spot on and the other low by 2 deg, not a big deal. Moved the low one to another port and it read correct so the issue is the input not the probe. Now on the cooking some meat!!! Would I recommend, yes it looks like it will do the job.

First and foremost people need to know that different temps are from different placements on the grill or in the oven. I have the 4 probe unit almost 2 years now (I bought this in July of 2022 it's now June of 2024). And the biggest thing I have learned about this is (what what most people complain about) is yes the probes will read different temps... and that's fine. Because THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO! Your grill or oven doesn't have the same temperature in every single place. Depending on how your coals are laid out, your gas is set (if it's a gas grill), your smoker box is heated (if you are using an off set smoker) or how well your oven circulates the heat if at all (depending on if you have a convection bake, true convection bake oven or no convection bake feature) you heat zones will have different temperatures and your food will have different temps accordingly. Moving your food in those different heat zones will affect their temps.Moving the probes (when safe to do so, obviously don't move a probe from chicken to beef) from one piece of food to another will change how they read in the different pieces of food and if not place in the original hole as the 1st probe it will read differently from the original one. If placed in original hole the new probe will take a few seconds but will adjust to the original probes temperature (I have tested this).I've never had anything more than a 10° difference in temperature on the probes and that's only when the heat zones have been very different because of the layout of my coals (by design) so that I can have areas to bring foods up to temp and others to keep food warm and slowly finish them. Generally there's a 2-3° temperature difference on average when in the same heat zone.Cleaning the probes are easy. Little bit of soap and water and a quick bit of scrubbing and your done. I've never tested putting them in the dishwasher even though it says they can be, and I won't try it, so I can't say how well that works. I will say that over time the anodizing does fade from the heat with the exception of the red. That's the only color that seems to be holding it's color well and obviously the "white" which is just a silver or crome so there's no anodizing to it at all. But the black and purple have faded, with the purple looking like a dull almost pastel pink and the black looking like a lightly anodized brown lol. Obviously this doesn't affect their function but if you are a stickler for things holding their look that could be an issue for you.The metal clips for the probes that are used to help check grill and oven temps work as intended. You only get 2 but if you wanted more to use all 4, probes to check different areas of the grill for its temps then you would need to find 2, more of them somewhere. The larger handheld unit has settings for each probe that you can customize. You can set each one the same or to a different type of meat. Or you can set a custom setting altogether. I generally use the same setting on each probe as I am usually making the same type of meat or food and make sure I have several "samples" to make sure that everything on the grill or oven is heating evenly unless I have a specific zone set up that's cooler for slower cooking. It also has an alarm feature that will alert you when your desired temperature has been hit (I recommend going over that temp by about 10° and moving to a cooler heating zone and then making sure your food is holding your desired temperature).Overall I really like this system. It's easy to use, accurate (when you pay attention to your heat zones), has plenty of features and settings, and the cord lengths are great. I honestly believe that the vast majority of bad reviews complaining about the inaccurate temps and bad probes are people who don't understand how to properly use this system.
